Aer Lingus Nightmare

Hi all,
I spent over €4,000 on flights to the USA with Aer Lingus, due to fly May 2020.
Unfortunately the flights didn't happen. I chose to get vouchers at the time, as I was sympathetic to the situation, and possibly naively unaware of how serious the situation was going to get.
I requested the voucher SIX bloody months ago. SIX MONTHS! Been fobbed off and fobbed off. Case was supposedly escalated in July.
Every reply on FB or Twitter is by a robot.
Today was the last straw. The robot asked my date of travel and is now presuming when I state the month of May, that I'm talking about future travel in May 2021.
I'm at the end of my tether. Flights were paid with a debit card.

Anyone else in a similar situation, can shed a bit of light or hope, or who have any bright ideas of what to do next?
According to Aer Lingus twitter feed, I am not alone

Ring and see if your bank can help?

Lineofconcepcion · 09/10/2020 23:28

Try and do a chargeback with the bank, although it may be too much time has passed. In future always pay for anything over 100£ with a credit card so you get s75 CCA protection.

@reallydisgruntled : Have you looked on Aer Lingus Complaints action group on Facebook?
There you will find kindred spirits and, hopefully, some advice to help you.
Good luck with it all.
Having had an issue with Ryanair a few years ago, I know how exhausting and frustrating it can be dealing with this sort of thing. I found a similar Facebook group, invaluable at the time.
