As they handled the initial outbreak badly, silencing that Doctor and all... Just wondering if this was likely?

Pretty much the whole of the rest of the world was not prepared for this virus. I think you need to go back to where it originated and it would not be unreasonable to expect a change to be made (assuming it was wet markets and not a lab experiment gone wrong).

As far as I'm aware there hasn't been sufficient change and wet markets are pretty much open for business . It's only a matter of time until the next one and we can all just do the same as this time and rollover and blame the government of the time for failing to protect us all while China picks up and carries on just because its China and we are dependant on them.

Survival of the fittest from here on in then or maybe it's time for a global rethink.

I would also like to see an investigation!

So is cattle farming- measles (still kills over 100,000 people a year)
So are pig farms- swine flu
So are chicken farms- avian flu
So is camel herding- MERS
So is dog ownership- rabies
So is having casual sex- HIV (750,000 still die every year)

We don’t have a record of stopping human activity that spreads disease. We tend to develop other means to fight a disease (vaccines, anti-viral drugs, testing and mass slaughter of infected animals.)
