Covid 19 and LFT

Hi there my hubby has just come home after being in hospital with Covid. All tests were clear before they let him come home apart from a liver function blood test. We have been told by our GP this morning it needs to be repeated again in 2 weeks. Is this something to worry about? Has anyone else had this too?

Try asking on the Covid lungs thread, they're the experts at symptoms and treatments! Hope he's OK.

Almost certainly not.

It (probably) means that one test is very slightly out of range, and in itself is nothing to worry about. But they want repeat tests to check it is indeed settling (not worsening)

(Disclaimer - not a medic, but family member had similar sort of out-of-range reading last year, and that was how it was explained to her. It settled)

Possibly.

Chances are his liver was hammered by the virus and is still showing some signs of stress (cant be that bad or they'd not have let him home) so they want to check it in a couple of weeks to see if its healing. Luckily the liver is one of the best organs for healing itself.
