Travelling back to a lockdown area?

I’m due to go away this weekend and come back midweek next week. It’s been reported that much of northern England will be locked down from Monday and non-essential travel will be banned.
Can I continue my break as planned and just obey the lockdown once returned? I’m having a really rough time and I’m desperate for these few days with family.

Common sense would say they have to allow people who were away when lockdown was declared to go back home. That applied in Wales where you can’t travel in or out of locked down counties (except for things like work, medical appointments etc) and wales has generally had stricter rules than England.

Is staying with family longer term an option if you’re really struggling? It sounds drastic but who knows how long restrictions will last?

Anything at the moment is speculation so follow the current rules. In Scotland travel is still allowed, I wonder if the reports are meaning avoid public transport for non-essential travel rather than mean don't go on holiday.

I can’t stay with family long term as my children are here and settled in schools as well as being local to their father.
I think I’ll just go, I won’t be using public transport anyway.

Sorry I know it’s not a viable option for most people, it was just a thought

Hope you enjoy your time with your family
