I’ve got a cold

... and I have no idea how. I have been extremely cautious, I haven’t been seeing any friends and I haven’t been anywhere either. Went to the pub once recently and sat outside, nobody else was there apart from the guy that served us and he was in a mask! Always sanitise my hands etc, and yet here we are. I did help an old lady cross the road yesterday and she decided to use my baby pram as a Zimmer frame, but I doubt it’d develop this quickly!

To be honest it’s shocked and worried me, because it just shows that despite all my precautions... I could still get COVID! Hmm

My partner keeps saying I’m just “run down” and it’s just “that time of the year” and I can’t have caught anything. Doesn’t explain the runny nose, swollen glands or foggy ness. No other symptoms so I’m holding off on testing.. for now!

Anyone else?

It’s amazing isn’t and just goes to show how bacteria can spread so easily and you can’t eradicate all risk. The measures in place do limit and slow the spread though and that’s the aim but you can’t take all risk away.

Hope you feel better soon.

I meant amazing as astonishing rather that ‘great, you have a cold!’ Grin

lookslikeacorpse · 08/10/2020 10:42

yep, I have not been out since Feb but had to go the optitian the other day, everyone wore masks but obviously cannot socially distance when you are having your retinas checked Grin

I now have a bad headache, bit of a temp and sore throat. I am awaiting my Covid test today, I am in a high lockdown area. Am gonna be so mad at myself if I have caught it, have been so careful but needed my eye looking at, i have PVDs.

Hopefully not! Although even if so I’m sure all will be fine. I had a sore throat yesterday but it’s gone now, odd for a cold as I’d have expected it to last a bit longer. See, this is the problem with COVID and why so many don’t think it’s possible they have it when they may well do.

Same! I’ve got a runny nose, sneezing, sore throat, sinus pain - had it a few days. I’ve not been in a shop/pub/restaurant or anywhere with people since March, and hadn’t seen a soul at anything less than about 10ft outside, apart from my elderly, housebound father (who is the reason I’m bring so cautious!), in nearly two weeks, until Wednesday when the plumber arrived to install a new boiler (I’m keeping well away from him in a different part of the house as I was sniffly before he arrived). No idea where I’ve picked anything up from.

I actually think it could be the joggers that insist on jogging up my backside when I’m out walking my baby. I stay away from everyone but each day a jogger thinks it’s a good idea to jog right by me, heavy breathing and sweating. That, or from my food shopping packaging (home delivery) but the risk is soooo low! Confused

Secretly hope it’s COVID, as long as this is as bad as it gets...

It’s amazing isn’t and just goes to show how bacteria can spread so easily and you can’t eradicate all risk. A cold is a virus and so catching a cold doesn't demonstrate anything about how bacteria spread.

I had a hospital appointment 2 days ago and I am now suffering a stinking cold. You can’t help but check your symptoms can you! Sneezing, running nose, streaming eyes thankfully do not make the list.

Don't even get me started on runners! I go running solo and am getting so fed up of running groups that go 3-a-breast across the path and make no effort to move. Elderly people use the path and they still don't think going single file might be a good idea. Selfish bastards. I will have to say something if it continues.
