Childcare rules

I'm based in Nottinghamshire and its looking increasingly likely that we'll be put into local lockdown in the next few days.

I have 2 children (2&5) who my parents provide childcare for before school/nursery 3 mornings and one evening after school. I understand in other local lockdown areas, childcare by grandparents is still allowed. I'm hoping this will be the case in Nottinghamshire.

Does anyone know how it's meant to work? My parents are in their mid 60's and have no under lying health conditions and are happy to continue doing this if allowed.

But I assume I will not be allowed in the house to collect the kids and vice versa?

Are there any other rules to follow-I've googled but can only really find details of them changing the rules to allow grandparent care, not any details of how best to handle it?

Apologies if this is a daft question-I'm really struggling to focus on things at the moment with the threat of lockdown.

My parents are in lockdown in Newcastle and they’ve continued to provide childcare for my brother, to look after my niece.
Collecting from school, being in each other’s houses, etc. Nothing has really changed tbh...

I understood it that childcare by grandparents / family was allowed so it carries on as normal.

Thanks all. So will I be able to go into my parents house to collect the children? I envisaged handovers outside on the road!

I do find it strange if not allowed. My parents and I have acknowledged that the bigger risk is my children as they are at school and nursery, whereas me who may not be allowed in the house wfh and in a covid secure workplace. The only people I see are my kids!

But I'll follow the rules if required.

Mine are def just continuing as normal. Eg, my dad collects niece from school, takes her back to her house, and stays there until my brother gets back from work, then they have dinner together.

The government said childcare was fine as long as the arrangement was consistent and couldn't be avoided (so not a different person each night)

Yes definitely fine as it’s deemed a ‘childcare bubble’ in the latest guidance for local lockdowns

I’m in local lockdown & my parents still provide childcare.. my mum is vulnerable but she’s made the call that she refuses to not see her Grandkids? Makes me a bit anxious but it’s her decision to make, not mine..
