Negative test question

Hi all,
just wondering if someone was in close contact with someone at the weekend who has just tested positive...and they get tested and are negative.....could that just mean that the person is positive but that there are very low levels in the system and that the person may test positive a week later?

They shouldn't have got tested unless symptomatic

Yes but try not to panic. The early days are when self care can make a big difference (and stress doesn't help the immune system). Take it easy as much as possible, sip warm drinks regularly, healthy foods, fresh air, exercise.

Sensible countries are testing all possible contacts of positive cases - because many people with it are asymptomatic. That's what a good test, track, trace - and ultimately containment, looks like.

Wreckedmum, i'm not in the UK.
Here we are testing close contacts of those who have tested positive.

Thanks @SheepandCow
It's not me, it's my exes partner. My ex normally takes the kids on weekends so we were wondering if her test result comes back negative does that mean it's safe for him to take the kids or not. They haven't been around his partner since she was exposed to the confirmed positive case.
I will keep them with me to be safe Smile
