My partner and I had our swabs done on Thursday morning at a walk-in test centre in Central London. He got his negative result back ~22 hours later. I'm still waiting for mine. I know he is very lucky and it seems like many people are waiting a very long time. But is it common for groups tested at similar times at the same centre to receive results at very different times or has my swab potentially gone missing? I'm a keyworker and my GP practice could really do with my return as soon as is safe/possible (also I'm already a little fed up of the same four walls!)

That’s frustrating. My sister didn’t get hers for about 4-5 days, her husband got his back in 2. Tested together.
Have you got your result yet?

TheVeryHungryTortoise · 05/10/2020 10:00

Still nothing, no. Thank you for replying! I assumed that similar times swabs would be tested at similar times, but it seems like this is not the case then. When should I start calling to follow up? I don't want to swamp the coronavirus phone lines, but equally want to check that my sample wasn't lost somewhere.

Just tried calling. If you press the chasing test results button they just tell you the service is too busy and hang up on you. Wonderful.

@TheVeryHungryTortoise I phoned up yesteday to chase my results. And went to the option 2 button rather than 1 for chasing results and got through to speak to someone. They were really helpful and promised to chase up but 24 hours later still no results Sad my daughter was tested on Fri am

TheVeryHungryTortoise · 06/10/2020 21:21

Thank you! That's really good to know. I will try that tomorrow morning then. Still no result here. I assume after 10 days from symptoms I can stop isolating?

OP posts:
Clairebear21 · 07/10/2020 22:23

@TheVeryHungryTortoise yes as I understand it you can stop isolating after 10 days. I got my daughter's negative result shortly after I posted on Monday which was a relief

ASchuylerSister · 07/10/2020 22:26

Nearly 60 hrs waiting for results here. It’s a joke.

ASchuylerSister · 07/10/2020 22:28

@TheVeryHungryTortoise
Are you still waiting for results after nearly w week?! Shock

dementedma · 08/10/2020 08:02

40 hours here so far...

ThatDamnScientist · 08/10/2020 08:19

I have just done home test, we've been told that results will be back in 48 hours (119 registered our kits and booked the courier to collect). I really hope they are back in that time scale, dd2 is desperate to get back to school and never thought I would see/hear that (she has ASD and anxiety).

Realitea · 08/10/2020 08:20

Does anyone know if results can come back on a weekend? We're posting dd's test this morning and everything's on hold until we get those results.

OpheliasCrayon · 08/10/2020 08:34

Only 24 hours for my DD2 here but keyworker supposed to be at work in the morning. I guess I'll not be going

GunsAndShips · 08/10/2020 09:20

13yo dd had the test yesterday morning, results through 19hrs later at 5.45am today (positive).

EnjoyingTheSilence · 08/10/2020 09:25

Urgh o tested on Tuesday was hoping to have heard by now. Am very depressed by all this. World beating, my arse

icelollycraving · 08/10/2020 09:30

Oh goodness @GunsAndShips is she feeling very unwell?

GunsAndShips · 08/10/2020 09:44

We were sure it would be negative. Her school closed on Monday for a deep clean due to confirmed cases increasing in the setting and reopened Tuesday. She came home with cold symptoms - sinus pain, blocked nose, earache, sneezing and we only tested because she had a temperature and was shivery. We assumed it would be negative. It looks like a heavy cold. She's up and doing school work, just drinking plenty and taking paracetamol. Same as a cold.

9yo DS had a random vomiting bug at the weekend when there are no vomiting bugs going round. Given that it presents as a stomach bug in primary aged dc, I suspect he has it too and I have a slight temp and am developing sinus pain and a tight chest.

We're in rural Norfolk with few cases locally.

icelollycraving · 08/10/2020 09:54

No confirmed cases at school or in any of our groups. Just waiting!
I do wonder if positive cases come back quicker.

EmmaStone · 08/10/2020 09:56

I did a postal test (requested to do one via ZOE app, no classic symptoms, so haven't had to isolate). Sent it in the last post on Monday (5pm), and got my result Wednesday at 20:20, so 51 hours from posting I guess (although assuming it got to the lab for 9 on Tuesday morning, not so bad. Negative.

OpheliasCrayon · 08/10/2020 12:54

As an update I got ours back this morning 25 hours after testing. Negative. I'm actually impressed.
