Headache only symptom?

My ds is currently self isolating at home as a close contact in school has tested positive. He is absolutely fine, but I’ve had a god awful headache for the last 3 days that’s not shifting with ibuprofen or paracetamol. Very unusual for me.

I’ve no other symptoms, sneezing a bit but I’m quite sneezy anyway, and feeling more tired than usual, but no sore throat or cough, taste and smell are fine.
Won’t obviously get a test unless I develop a fever, taste issue or cough, but just wondered if anyone had tested positive with a persistent headache only?

My ds had all the symptoms and was really quite unwell with it in late February. He was at uni halls in a big city. He took about 6 weeks to recover. He came back after a week as I wanted to look after him - we didn't know as much as we do now! Then dd who's at primary school had a terrible cough, change in taste, headache, temperature for about 2 weeks. She wasn't as bad.
All I had was the headache that you describe. It was unlike any headache I'd had before, pulsating, mostly behind the eyes but everywhere really. Nothing worked until MIL sent me some codeine! After three days it went for good. I had no other symptoms.
It's a real shame we couldn't get tested back then.

Interesting. That’s exactly the headache I have - unlike any I’ve had before. It’s behind my eyes and pulsating, and all up my neck. Also feeling very cold and a bit shivery (no fever though). It seems to come and go in intensity through the day and has been like this since Thursday.

DS is absolutely fine despite being a close contact of someone who has since tested positive, but he could be a symptomatic. DH also fine so far.

Paracetamol and ibuprofen are only just taking the edge off and I don’t have any codeine, must add some to the shopping as due a delivery tomorrow. I’m wfh anyway, so not out potentially spreading anything.

It’s just crazy the variety of symptoms, and probably it’s just a common headache. Would be good to know, but don’t want to waste a test unless I have one of the main 3 symptoms.

Definitely get a test, I had COVID and my first symptom was a week long headache like you describe, it was constant, nothing would shift it. I then went on to develop further symptoms after a week, lost taste smell etc. Positive antibody test recently.

2 people I know who tested positive had a headache to start with..that lasted throughout. Took a test, came back postive then the rest of the symptoms came. Like you nothing helped it

We both had those headaches, neither of us can take nurofen and paracetamol didn't touch it. Tested negative. We'd have suspected carbon monoxide except we have alarms for that.

The headache was my first symptom. It hurt to move my eyes. I’ve never known anything like it. Awful. I went on to have aches and chills but never a cough. Eventually lost smell and taste.

This was back in March so I didn’t test at the time but did an antibody test in July which cancer back positive.

Friend had a positive test in March (NHS Physiotherapist so was having regular tests) - only symptom she ever had was a headache for 2 days. Nothing else. Had positive antibody test too. Partner and children had no symptoms at all and were never tested.
