Trump will have to take it seriously now.

So Donald Trump has caught coronavirus. No surprise really with his limited mask Wearing.

I hope Joe Biden doesn’t catch it. I guess this will curtail Trump’s campaigning.

@FromEden

Maybe his team set him up to catch it now. Him keeping his mouth shut could be a boost to his ratings depending on who steps in

Pence steps in though..in what world is that a good thing? According to the official white doctor the illness won't affect his duties but how could they possibly know this?

(Also, ps , Sonja Morgan is an icon lol)

How strange. Maybe he will be calling for a postponement or try to use it as a reason not to leave the WH swiftly. I am normally against conspiracy theories but in this case I imagine there is more under the surface.

Blulorry · 02/10/2020 08:16

@StealthPolarBear

Yes I agree, think he'll have a very mild case, if he's even got it and not used the opportunity for his own gain.
Exactly this IF
cbt944 · 02/10/2020 08:16

?? - mask wearing protects those around you, not the individual

Mask wearing affords considerable protection for the individual wearing the mask. Not all masks are created equal, but testing has shown even the lowliest handmade mask affords some protection.

NandosPeriometer · 02/10/2020 08:22

I can't imagine him allowing Mike Pence to step in temporarily.

Just before I saw the news about Trump, I had watched the latest RHONY. You are right, pure joy Grin sorry, this isn't the right topic so thats all I'll say about that

Littlepond · 02/10/2020 08:27

I don’t even believe him. I think he will quarantine for 2 weeks to get attention and favour from the American public, and to avoid debates. And he will come back saying it’s just a mild illness that it’s nothing to worry about and he was right all along about it not being a big deal.

He’s lying.

Itsabeautifuldayheyhey · 02/10/2020 08:31

I don't think any of us could pick the aide (who was the first case) out of the line up, so won't know whether she wears a mask (or has infected more co-workers)
Pictures in the press at a rally and boarding Air Force One show Hope Hicks not wearing a mask.

vera99 · 02/10/2020 08:32

The writers of this season of The United States really know how to put together a season finale cliffhanger. I'm on the edge of my seat! If Trump and then Pence dies or are incapacitated then Nancy Pelosi becomes President.

peboh · 02/10/2020 08:33

He won't take it any more seriously. If he genuinely has covid, he'll probably have a milder case and that will help his argument that it isn't that bad and they can just carry on as they are.

peboh · 02/10/2020 08:33

Also to add, it didn't make Boris take it more seriously.

Wakeoff · 02/10/2020 08:38

I disagree. He has very much met a lot of resistance for wanting to go to far back into lockdown. I think though the lack of a fit for purpose track and trace system and guidance for schools is incompetence rather than being blasé.

MiniCooperLover · 02/10/2020 08:43

I wonder if this is all part of his strategy if he loses ... 'I wouldn't have lost if I wasn't unwell, it's not a fair election' ....

MerryInthechelseahotel · 02/10/2020 08:48

Whatever, real or not, wait to hear: no ones ever had the virus as bad as trump, and no ones ever in the history of the world recovered so well from it

vera99 · 02/10/2020 08:50

Well, if he has it (and it's not just a ploy to avoid debates/say the election wasn't fair because he was ill), there's two narratives:

'It's a nothing. I had it. I had it. And I can tell you it's nothing, there's nothing to worry about'

'The doctor told me, the doctor told me "You had it bad because you're so strong". Only really strong people get strong COVID-19 and I got strong COVID-19, but very few people will get strong COVID-19, but I got it because I was strong. But it's OK because I could fight it because I'm so unusually strong and I have such good genes. But most people don't have to worry about it, they'll get normal COVID-19 and that's just like a cold'

Waxonwaxoff0 · 02/10/2020 08:52

Bolsonaro caught it and still isn't taking it seriously, he and Trump are of the same ilk so I can't see Trump caring.

Itsabeautifuldayheyhey · 02/10/2020 08:55

Are you accusing his physician, who released a letter, with POTUS' permission, of lying?

vera99 · 02/10/2020 09:02

Well if he gets better he (hopefully) may still be a bit winded by it all so in the runup to the election he is a wounded beast easier for sleepy Joe to finally finish off.

MordredsOrrery · 02/10/2020 09:07

@DebbieFiderer

He'll probably be asymptomatic or have a very mild case and be mouthing off even more about how it's not a big deal, people shouldn't worry about it, or about how healthy and robust he is that it couldn't hurt him.
Sounds about right for him.

Also, love your username @DebbieFiderer

peboh · 02/10/2020 09:10

@Itsabeautifuldayheyhey are you insinuating that Trump and his physician couldn't possibly be lying?

vera99 · 02/10/2020 09:39

One big positive out of this, the Trump campaign was down playing covid & trying to push it down the news agenda, this has put it right back to the very top.

Hahahha good come back. It’s seems to be all too common that these celebs or people that are high up in power get a “mild” case of Covid.... isn’t it ironic and how they all seem to make a speedy recovery..

peboh · 02/10/2020 09:49

@Blulorry it does make you wonder doesn't it, and of course Mr Trump has a stellar record of being honest at all times. I can't imagine why anybody would question him, he's the most truthful man I've ever known about.

Yep worse possible outcome
TheWindOnTheMoon · 02/10/2020 09:54

As much as I loathe Trump I don't want him to die and be remembered only for being the President who died of covid whilst in office in the year of the pandemic. He has too much to answer for post presidency and being made a martyr for dying in office will rob all those people who have suffered as a result of his policies (and those from before his presidency) of justice.
