Trump will have to take it seriously now.

So Donald Trump has caught coronavirus. No surprise really with his limited mask Wearing.

I hope Joe Biden doesn’t catch it. I guess this will curtail Trump’s campaigning.

Hopefully he will try some of the methods he was recommending to the public, in particular, the bleach. I see flotus as tested positive also.

Notonthestairs · 02/10/2020 07:21

He'll sail through it and will put it down to the American people praying for him etc, act of God.
I find the timing a bit sus- when was the next debate scheduled for?

EggysMom · 02/10/2020 07:23

With the best medical attention, he'll have a really easy ride .... and then he'll make statements like "it wasn't so bad" and "he can conquer anything".

Buckwheat80 · 02/10/2020 07:26

I wouldn't start cheering yet. If he gets through this (which he is 99% plus certain to do), he'll use it to boost his campaign. He'll say it shows how physically fit he is, and that the virus isn't so bad, rtf.

JacobReesMogadishu · 02/10/2020 07:29

I don’t think the best medical attention will necessarily equal an easy ride. Boris must have been well looked after but he had a tough time.

It does sound like Trump is currently asymptomatic. If that continues I hope it doesn’t make him double down on his “this isn’t serious” attitude. Though he did seem to have moved away from that recently.....not that I believed he was sincere in that. He will say whatever he thinks will be popular and get him more votes.

Apparently, despite what he says in public, he actually does follow the guidelines and wears a mask, has a team go ahead and sanitize everything before he gets there etc. He is a known "germaphobe". I hope he has a mild case and gets through it without major symptoms because honestly I am afraid for the country if he gets seriously ill, just because wtf would happen? Things are already so uncertain here

vera99 · 02/10/2020 07:46

Inject himself with bleach and like a miracle, it will simply disappear.

RedToothBrush · 02/10/2020 07:47

Like hell he will take it more seriously.

The chances are he will only get a mild version. Trump's mentality is that he views others as weak or losers if they are not rich, famous, healthy etc. So if he has a mild version he will call others who get it seriously weak and losers and how we should let it rip. Its just a bit of flu afterall

Just in time for the election campaign.

Or if he does get a bad dose then he gets to shout about how strong he is and how he survived.

The chance of his dying is very minimal indeed as he will get the best care imaginable (unlike all those loser Americans without health insurance) and things have moved on considerably since April when things were at their peak here and Johnson got it...

No thats not a good outcome either.

No outcome is going.

Trump could not have got it at a worst time. He either heroically survives or decides covid is nothing and just a cold.

SonjaMorgan · 02/10/2020 07:51

Maybe his team set him up to catch it now. Him keeping his mouth shut could be a boost to his ratings depending on who steps in. And if not then it's a good get out for why he's done badly on election night.

HelloMissus · 02/10/2020 07:54

My prediction is he has mild symptoms and then that’s a slam dunk for the US to ‘return to normal’.

FromEden · 02/10/2020 07:57

Pence steps in though..in what world is that a good thing? According to the official white doctor the illness won't affect his duties but how could they possibly know this?

(Also, ps , Sonja Morgan is an icon lol)

notevenat20 · 02/10/2020 08:00

Nether her nor DT are ill at all apparently. I am no medical expert but if you test positive with no symptoms, are you likely to get ill after that?

In the UK Johnson’s illness triggered a surge of patriotism. Will people vote for Trump out of patriotism if he is ill?

CokeyCola · 02/10/2020 08:01

I guess this will curtail Trump’s campaigning.

He may stand more chance out of it and keeping his mouth shut.

Mistymonday · 02/10/2020 08:02

'I've never wished a man dead, but I have read some obituaries with great pleasure.'

If he and Pence get incapacitated, Nancy Pelosi becomes President! Crossing everything...

Forgetmenot157 · 02/10/2020 08:02

Or the most likely scenario is that it barely affects him with little to no symptoms. Like the overwhelming majority of cases!

BriocheForBreakfast · 02/10/2020 08:05

@HelloMissus

My prediction is he has mild symptoms and then that’s a slam dunk for the US to ‘return to normal’.
This provides multiple benefits: 1.No more debates - I'm sure his campaign team will want to minimise any more public spats. They've lost the fight with Twitter. 2.Massive sympathy vote from the electorate. 3.When he makes a full and quick recovery, he can encourage US people to go to work as normal. See? It's not that bad! 4.The people who seem to truly believe that he is "anointed by God" will feel justified in their belief.

The timing is ridiculously convenient.

JellyBabiesSaveLives · 02/10/2020 08:06

There’s no good outcome from this, is there?

Mild case - bolsters his belief that there’s no need to take this seriously
Severe case - loads of sympathy votes

BrieAndChilli · 02/10/2020 08:07

I don’t trust a thing that comes out of politics, it’s all a big game, everything carefully crafted and planned and utilised to get people to vote the way they want to. I really think given the timing that it’s not true and being used to gain sympathy votes, votes from people who believe the virus is a hoax (as trump will be absolutely fine), etc etc

Wakeoff · 02/10/2020 08:07

Nah, he will swan through it and then proclaim he now has evidence it's no big deal.

BriocheForBreakfast · 02/10/2020 08:08

And Joe Biden won't be able to attack him as this will backfire on him because of the sympathy vote. He needs to go after the administration and not make it personal.

BriocheForBreakfast · 02/10/2020 08:08

IMHO

LemonTT · 02/10/2020 08:13

@justilou1

I still hope he kicks it before the election
This is the type of sentiment that Trump encourages and needs to exist. It proves with you, he has won.
bumblingbovine49 · 02/10/2020 08:13

At his age he is more like 80-85,% likely to sail through not 99%. Still overwhelming likely though
NandosPeriometer · 02/10/2020 08:14

We will be hearing lots of bullshit science from him about immunity, how his antibodies and t-cells are superior to anyone else, how it's not that bad...
