Do we need to isolate?

Dd is at primary school, friend of mine has children in same school but different class, my dd plays with the children at school etc. I was with my friend for around 15 mins 8 days ago in her car, they have all now tested positive. We don't have any symptoms. Do we need to isolate? I am trying to book a test as I have been unwell last few days (not covid according to gp)

It depends when their symptoms started. If they started within 48 hours of seeing you then you do need to isolate.

StormsDontLastForever · 01/10/2020 23:01

@Northernsoullover symptoms only started yesterday. Dd has seen them in the last few days but only for literally 1 minute. They have been off school this week.

If you've not had close contact within 48 before their first symptoms then no, you don't need to isolate. Also, please don't waste a test if you don't have COVID symptoms yourself. It's unnecessary.

If you are trying to get a test you must have at least one symptom. Therefoer your whole family should have been isolating since you got ill. You could have easily given it to your friend.

As others have said it’s contact in the last 48 hours. Regarding your daughter it depends how close she was. I believe 1 minute at under 1 meter counts as close contact or 15 mins at 2 meters.

Why were you trying to get a test? Which of the three symptoms did you have? You said you were unwell, and trying to get a test.

I presume your GP didn't advise you to get a test?
