Cancelled booking-no refund offered

Had a night camping booked for this Saturday. Site called yesterday and said that due to local lockdown, the booking has to be cancelled. Fair enough. But they only offered me another night at a later date, that can be used until June next year.
When I asked if I could have a refund(I paid in full) they said they weren’t offering refunds.
Where do I stand on this as I’m a bit pissed off that I’m out of pocket

Depends what their T&C said at the time you booked.

Char2015 · 01/10/2020 11:27

What's in their terms and conditions about cancellations?

DontEvenTry · 01/10/2020 11:30

This is all it says...

Cancelled booking-no refund offered

Unfortunately that does seem to state pretty clearly that if they have to cancel they will offer an alternative date, not a refund. Especially with the backup of "we advise you to get insurance".

I think they are obliged by law to give you a refund if they cancel, ie fail to fulfill the contract.

This Government publication may help. Or Citizens Advice.

I'd be inclined to keep on asking for a refund.

It doesn’t state that no refunds will be given... its only £40 but still. I’d rather have it in my bank than theirs!

Our hotel in the lakes in September suggested travel insurance as last refunded cancellations would be the week before.... and with all the last minute restrictions I didn’t want to lose money. Paid for insurance.
Luckily didn’t need it as the holiday went ahead.

Sorry that reads as you won’t get a refund to me.
