I downloaded the app last week. Yesterday I had a notification pop up on my phone that said I may have been in contact with someone who has reported trsting positive. When I go into the app, there is nothing there, it doesn't mention anything. Is it meant to give you more information? Surely they don't expect people to stay at home for 14 days after giving so little information? I had the same message again this morning, but again nothing in the app.

I'd be dubious based on that. There are scam/spam notifications too. That security aspect is why I refuse to have Bluetooth turned on all the time even though I have the app.

Have you been anywhere like pubs, restaurants, shops etc. where you would be more likely to come across an infected person?

There are lots of 'false alarms' like OP describes, were discussions on Twitter about it last night. If the App really thinks you were exposed, there is a higher level of notification, more obvious apparently.

@ickabog that is exactly what mine looks like. I have been to a pub and a restaurant at the weekend but i was with DH who also has the app, he hasn't had anything. I shall continue to ignore. I am happy to isolate if there has been a genuine risk but I want more information to be able to make a decision.

OP- the exact same thing happened to me the other day! I was really confused as no other information was available. I've ignored it like you but it seems really daft that those notifications get through!

mrshoho · 01/10/2020 09:47

I got this yesterday and thought I'd imagined it! I saw a notification but when I went to the app there was nothing there! and couldn't see any notification.

EdwardCullensBiteOnTheSide · 01/10/2020 09:48

I had this yesterday, and after reading up on it, apparently we might get lots of these, but then the data is analysed and if we are deemed to have been in very close contact with that person for long enough (15 mins I think) then we receive a separate message to tell us we might need to isolate.

ChaChaCha2012 · 01/10/2020 09:53

The Department of Health and Social Care said the notification was a "default message" sent by Google and Apple - the makers of the app's technology - and should be ignored.

Anyone surprised that they've shifted the blame to Apple and Google? No help to the people affected that might not see the news report, no acknowledgement that other countries using the same software aren't having this problem.

"Stay at Home... Well, maybe not."

Cripesitsthegasman19 · 01/10/2020 10:08

This is why I'm not downloading it

Rollingdragon · 01/10/2020 10:53

DH has had the opposite this morning, he hasn't received a notification, but he went into the app, and it is saying he should be isolating. No idea what to think!
