I have just had a very very brief notification flash up on my phone that was a covid alert saying I could have been exposed to covid ...

It has completely disappeared... i cant retrieve it now .

I have the app downloaded but there is nothing in the app notifying me ...

It has peed me off because now im really anxious Sad

Has anyone else had anything like this ?

Or even an alert that you know is legit ?

Thankyou for reading Smile

There was a piece about it on the BBC today. It's just the app letting you know it's doing its thing.

Bufferingkisses · 29/09/2020 21:15

My DD had them today as well.

IfOnlyOurEyesSawSouls · 29/09/2020 21:19

@Bufferingkisses thankyou ...

Iv had a horrendous 6 months with a very close family member becoming seriously ill with covid & not being able to see him in hospital for 2 months so this has triggered me a bit .

Did your daughters say a possible covid alert too?

I get notified each week about how many times the app has checked info with another phone. Its under Exposure Notifications in your phone settings

But the Apps brand new isnt it?

Mine also flashed earlier as well. It was strange

dementedpixie · 29/09/2020 21:32

Although mine is the Scottish app so the notifications may differ to the other one

RainBow725 · 29/09/2020 21:33

Mine did this earlier when I was out for a walk. I hadn't stopped or talked to anyone at all. Freaked me out a bit!

DamitJanet · 29/09/2020 21:35

They were talking about this on radio 4 this morning, so long as there’s nothing in the app itself you don’t need to do anything.

SpookyNoise · 29/09/2020 21:37

I had that too today.

@dementedpixie how did you find that? I can’t find it.

dementedpixie · 29/09/2020 21:38

I went into phone settings and searched for Exposure Notifications

IfOnlyOurEyesSawSouls · 29/09/2020 21:40

Im glad im not the only one !

Mine doesn’t show a number. I wonder if it’s because yours is the (better) Scotland one.

dementedpixie · 29/09/2020 21:42

Might be under Google settings if that's in your phone menu

From the BBC:

" I get notifications which then disappear - what's going on?"
A number of people have reported getting notifications about exposure to the virus and then not being able to find out what they need to do next.
Some are confused because of the way they are written - including the phrase "exposure date, duration and signal strength have been saved".
It appears that this again may be connected to the Apple-Google system, which sometimes sends out what are called exposure notifications. Here's what the FAQ from the app teamm* says about this issue:
"These are default messages from Apple and Google. There is no need to be concerned if you miss or overlook them, they are just visible to remind you that the functionality is on and working. You're currently not able to turn off these default Apple and Google notifications.
"Important messages from the NHS Covid-19 app will always be visible to you from inside the app."
