They are currently at 40 cases per 100k. Booked a holiday back in January, for May, moved to October half term. With Tui. Tried to move it to the same week next year, 3k extra including amendment fee so that won't be happening. Really nervous about going. Think we will be ok when we get there but I hate uncertainty! It's to Rhodes so not one of the islands already on the quarantine list. What are people's feelings, the government don't seem to have any system any more as to whether a country goes on the list or not! I'm hoping they wouldn't be cruel enough to add it to the list half way through half term meaning children would miss 2 weeks of school quarantining when they get back. Aarrggghhh!

I went to Rhodes last week for 10 days.

It was so well organised and I felt safe all the time. They pulled almost half of our plane for random COVID testing at airport but queue moved quickly and those pulled for testing were finished by the time the baggage showed up!

Wore a mask in taxis but otherwise didn’t unless we went into shops.

I felt safer there than I did here!

That's reassuring. Don't those people have to isolate until the negative result is back though?

If they make further restrictions or add to quarantine destinations, I'm fairly confident it has nothing to do with cruelty

If it's popular with uk parents undoubtedly the cases will rise during half term as there is no SD in uk schools

I think you do yes- you’d need to isolate in your hotel. But it seemed efficient and they knew what they were doing. If your PLF QR code starts with an odd number apparently that means you get picked for a test!

Please remember to do your PLF form! I was at Heathrow and saw TWO families get turned away at checkin because they hadn’t done it!

@RufustheSniggeringReindeer I was exactly the same. Convinced something would go wrong! But was a lovely, peaceful break. We followed all guidelines, kept our masks on for entire flight (actually no big deal) and found the Greek people so pleased so see some tourists!

BouleBaker · 29/09/2020 21:02

You don’t have to isolate while waiting for your test result. We went in July and the tests looked to be very quick, guests sent on to the hotel as normal, no restrictions unless you test positive. Anyone testing positive gets moved with their party to a specific hotel, on Kos that was a 4* hotel that was being used. The Greek Government have very specific rules in place for hotels and we felt very safe.

I heard that the whole plane gets moved to government isolation facilities if anyone tests positive but it doesn't sound like that is right. What age do children have to wear masks does anyone know. Feeling a little more positive now! Doesn't help I've got morning sickness and likely to be in the thick of it when there. Didn't think we would be going!

@rufusthesniggeringreindeer I've been thinking of you, how did you get on? It looks like we will be going. I've talked myself into looking forward to it. Do you know if children over 3 have to wear a mask, I read that somewhere but not sure how true it was!
