Swab test - touching tongue

I went for a COVID test today and purposely picked a site where a health worker carries the test out for you. Any ideas what the implications are if the swab touches your tongue? Will it void the whole result? I'll be honest I struggled when they did it and I'm pretty sure it touched my tongue. The staff were lovely and she did let me pause in between to compose myself. She got a very thorough nasal swab though (I can still feel it now several hours later).

Is the worker did it for you then I'm sure it is ok. I Have had 2 tests and on the first j needed a spare swab!

Yeah I purposely went to a site where a health worker does it as I'm close to the 5 day cut off for testing after symptoms develop. I had a test on Saturday where they basically chucked the swab at me and told me to crack on with very little instructions. I struggled to get to my tonsil area doing it myself and didn't realise you're meant to blow your nose so I think the sample was eeeeeer a bit snotty as well! lol! That test came back as "the sample couldn't be read" so was advised to retest! Fingers crossed this one comes back with an actual result.

I had one done as did my baby, it touched our tongues on the way in and out, and the results weren’t compromised in any way.

I ended up at one of the centres where they slip the kit through your cracked window of the car. Had to do it in my daughter who kept gagging. Didn’t get anything like the 10 seconds of tonsil swabbing that they recommend - maybe 1.5 seconds over several attempts - and the swab touched her tongue in the way out.

Result was fine though in the sense that it didn’t come back as ‘unreadable’ (I thought it would). It came back negative for cv19

My DD (11 months at the time of the test) sucked on the swab and it somehow didn’t invalidate it

Thanks for the reassurance everyone! Hopefully won't be waiting too long for the results.
