How many cases per 100,000 in your area?

Florabella · 27/09/2020 17:44

I have become slightly obsessed about checking the figures in my area each day. We have 7 per 100,000 which I think is pretty low. What are the numbers where you live?

Just gone into tier 2

HoldMyLobster · 17/10/2020 17:34

@Fungster

23. I'm in the US and my kids are doing distance learning, because the infection rates are not low enough, per state health department guidance.

My hometown, in the U.K., has 438 cases per 10,000. And all the schools are open 🙄

This is baffling to me too. My US state is at 15 and staying steady. The highest it's gone at any point is 30.

Our schools are doing a hybrid model because it's still vital that everyone socially distances to prevent spread of infection. If cases rise then the schools will move immediately to online-only.

In the US how does the hybrid and distance learning work for working parents. Everyone I know, both parents work full time and not all jobs can be done from home.

Toddlerteaplease · 17/10/2020 17:43

Around 800 I think but dropping.

Topseyt · 17/10/2020 19:27

We have 82 per 100,000. We've just gone into tier 2.

MayFayre · 17/10/2020 19:35

264 tier one

hellsbells99 · 17/10/2020 19:57

We are in tier 2. Increased to 188 Shock

hellsbells99 · 17/10/2020 19:58

MayFayre what area are you in to have such a high number and only be in tier 1?

MajesticWhine · 17/10/2020 20:27

110 and in tier 2 - London borough.
whereas
DM's area has 144 and is in tier 1
DD2's area is 286 and is in tier 1
It makes no sense and I'm pissed off about it.

EmmaWithTheGreatHair · 17/10/2020 22:55

174 Cheshire East and in tier 2

Remember we’re almost never having to isolate, so the need for childcare is predictable rather than random and unexpected as it is in the uk.

In my town they’ve set up some wraparound care for younger kids. Lots of university students helping out. Families getting together in pods. Employers being understanding. People wfh with their kids doing online school. Grandparents helping out. All sorts.

BritWifeinUSA · 18/10/2020 03:37

Our state has 8.2 per 100,000. Schools are closed. Offices are closed. Leisure facilities closed. Ridiculous.

No idea how many cases / cases in paper anyway . London .

carolebaskinfedhimtothetigers · 18/10/2020 08:35

@Egghead68

Just gone into tier 2
Another example of how wildly unfair this is, we have been 'Tier 2' (local lockdown up until Wednesday when the tiers were introduced, but that was actually more strict than tier 2) since mid September when our cases were 35/100,000 now we have been moved into tier 3 with 200/100,000 yet here is an example of an area only just going into tier 3 with over 700/100,000!
carolebaskinfedhimtothetigers · 18/10/2020 08:35

Only just going into tier 2 I mean

Ginkypig · 18/10/2020 11:05

@Ginkypig

I posted on Sunday and it was 46 and today it's 74. Sad

So it's almost doubled in 2 days!

137 cases per 100,000 people in the latest week 7 Oct-13 Oct. The average area had 97.

720
cases in the latest week 7 Oct-13 Oct

-93
compared with the previous week

4,612
total cases to 16 Oct

432 coronavirus-related deaths registered to 11 Oct

So this is the latest result from bbc. It’s interesting to show the progression.

Egghead68 · 18/10/2020 14:33

702 today (Covid symptom study).

I wish the would apply (and publish) consistent criteria for putting areas into and out of the different tiers.

They left it really late to put us into tier 2 here, partly I guess as we were “averaged” with other areas of London which are much less affected

Whereabouts are you Egghead?
Egghead68 · 18/10/2020 17:48

Worst part of London. Covid symptom study figures are prevalence not new cases I.e. number people per 100k with it at the moment (excluding carehomes, hospitals and long Covid).
