How many cases per 100,000 in your area?

I have become slightly obsessed about checking the figures in my area each day. We have 7 per 100,000 which I think is pretty low. What are the numbers where you live?

@Gertie75 well neath port Talbot went into lockdown yesterday with 29 per 100k and vale of glamorgan has 34 per 100k. The average area in Wales has 35 per 100k
However, in england Wolverhampton has 74 per 100k and Leeds has 113 per 100k. The average area in england has 24 per 100k. (All figures from bbc news).

It seems the figures need to be higher in england before they lockdown compared to Wales.

I think in Wales 20 per 100k is when they start thinking about local lockdowns. They seem to have actually been using 50 per 100k as the threshold originally but obviously now they're locking down sooner because surrounding counties are so high.

Test positivity rates would be more relevant but that is not published at standard.

Can anyone explain that one to me? They're published is wales and they're one of the things used to decide whether a lockdown is required, but seems to me that areas where people are more sensible and only get a test if they actually have any of the three listed symptoms are then more likely to be locked down?

  1. Entire county is classed as the area.

It does seem the North is struggling due to all the major towns? In terms of lockdown.

We are classed as S.Bucks but postcode Slough. Wonder if Slough goes up they’d lock us down or would it be based on county.

Sockwomble · 28/09/2020 11:03

The last figure was 50 something but I think the next one could be around 100. It was virtually zero a month ago and had been for several months. Cases appear to have been brought in by people socialising elsewhere and then spreading it when socialising locally.

  1. Previously, we’d say around 4 for weeks. I’m in the SW and cases have shot you over last few weeks. +137% on last week.

Does anYone know the threshold for a local lockdown or is it based on something else?

ErrolTheDragon · 28/09/2020 11:29
  1. In Lancashire. (Fortunately for us we're outside the urban area with lots of countryside and no foreseeable need to go into town)
CokeEnStock · 28/09/2020 11:51

190 in my part of Belgium. One region of inner city Brussels is over 600. They are much better at testing here though. I read this morning 10% of tests in Brussels were positive in the last week.

TankGirl97 · 28/09/2020 11:53
  1. That's a big leap compared to when I checked last week and we had 1.

  1. But it has been extremely difficult to get tested relatively locally (East London) for the last two weeks, so I reckon the numbers are significantly higher. People with symptoms have been put off by having to drive long distances. Or many people here don't have cars and rely on public transport.

Ashdownstar · 28/09/2020 14:28

That's a big jump @Dementedswan.
Ours has just gone up by 1, to 5.
