Test and trace text - genuine?

We went for dinner last weekend and had to give our mobile numbers. 8 days later my husband only gets a text to self isolate into 4 Oct. .my parents were there and I put my mobile on the form. So is this genuine?

My parents have not received a text and neither have I?

Also why would it take over a week to be contacted when of genuine we could have been infectious all this time?

And why has it not come up on the test and trace app which we’ve downloaded?

The text looks genuine but I don’t know why it seems hit and miss? And does it mean all of us have to self isolate?

Would you phone the restaurant we went to dinner as that is the only place we’ve been that fits in with the timeline?

It doesn’t sound like it could be from the restaurant as it hasn’t gone to your phone.
Must be someone that your DH is in contact with that you aren’t...work colleague, friend etc

We haven’t been anywhere else and my husband has been working from home ? He took my son to a covid rest station the Monday but that came back negative?

Strange no one else in your family has had a text that were at the restaurant. And your husband has been home all of the time in last 14days? Maybe it is a hoax not sure how to check.

RedRumTheHorse · 27/09/2020 17:05

The test and trace app is buggy so don't rely on it.

Your husband could have easily been to another place without you unless you follow him 24-7.

RedRumTheHorse · 27/09/2020 17:05

Alternatively someone gave his number out instead of their own. Remember there were people posting about giving out fake details.

Srictlybakeoff · 27/09/2020 17:11

I would phone the restaurant to check

NeverForgetYourDreams · 27/09/2020 17:13

Someone will have made up a random number that happens to be your husbands

ShellsAndSunrises · 27/09/2020 17:13

It doesn’t sound like it was the restaurant, it’s too long ago and they’d have used the number on your form. It’s going to be somewhere your husband has used his number, or someone has listed your husband as a recent contact and given his phone number.

Yetiyoga · 27/09/2020 17:14

Does it say it is from the restaurant ? They could have just notified one person from the group booking?
Has your DH not been anywhere without you?

PinkkLady · 27/09/2020 17:15

Test and trace is currently taking about three-five days to contact positive cases so that sounds about right.

Treesofwood · 27/09/2020 17:17

Problem is if its genuine he can be fined £10000 if he doesn't follow it.

WhentheDealGoesDown1 · 27/09/2020 17:20

Don’t the test and trace people ring you and ask questions, it sounds a bit odd that it was just a text, have you checked the number it was from

StatisticalSense · 27/09/2020 17:23

The date of the 4th would suggest contact on the 20th or 21st, so either last Sunday or Monday.

StatisticalSense · 27/09/2020 17:27

It won't have come up on the app because the app wasn't in existence at the time of the contact so can't have possibly registered it. First contact is usually by text so if it is from NHSTracing it is likely to be genuine and should also include a link the acknowledge reciept to www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/testing-and-tracing/nhs-test-and-trace-if-youve-been-in-contact-with-a-person-who-has-coronavirus/ so if the details in the text work on that website it is genuine.

Treesofwood · 27/09/2020 17:39

Does he have people who don't like him? If someone tests positive they can name anyone they like to have to isolate and the person (your DH) can't even know who it was. Maybe someone is trying to cause him difficulty.

HoneyBee03 · 27/09/2020 18:09

Did the text have your husband's name on it? Not sure if it would. Does it say what number it was sent from so you can Google it? As mentioned already, lots of people are giving false numbers when checking into places so if there's nothing else it could be then it could be down to that.
