Does dd need testing

We've have all had a bit of a cold of some sort over last few weeks, usually sneezing, running nose etc but nothing major

Dd13 has been feeling poorly this weekend, headache, headache in her nose (guessing it's her sinuses) very slight cough but not persistent and pain around lung area. Not temp what so ever and has full taste/smell

Do I need to get her tested? As pretty sure it's not Covid related and she hasn't got any of the symptoms

If I do then do I have to stay off work and keep her 3 siblings off school to?

No, not unless that cough gets more continuous or she develops fever or loss of taste/smell.

There’s loads of colds around at the moment. Runny nose is apparently quite rare with covid.

She doesn't meet the criteria for testing, but it does sound like she's feeling pretty grotty, poor thing.

Can I please ask that you keep her off school? Although she hasn't got a cough or fever, it sounds like the kind of thing that could produce those symptoms in other kids, and then that can have the domino effect of making them and their families isolate and test.

Also, just because children don't meet the testing criteria, doesn't necessarily mean they can't have Covid. If you are worried about the pain in the lung area and you can afford it, you might feel reassured by having an oximeter to check her oxygen levels.

Thank you I really don't want to take up a test for someone that may really need it. I was pretty sure it's just a cold forget to add she also has sore throat and will keep a eye on her. I will be keeping her off school for a few days but good to know I can still go to work and send her siblings to school.

I wouldn’t test (as she doesn’t have Covid symptoms) but I’d be more cautious than usual about sending her back to school and I’d wait until she was fully recovered (whereas I’m usually a if your well enough to play you’re well enough for school type of mum) to return her to school. I’d also watch out for any other symptoms.
Hope she feels better soon
