Play date

Hi I’m in Scotland so rules can’t be a bit difficult. My son 10, is wanting a play date with his school friend, who he’s been with all week at school. Is this allowed. It would mean the child coming into our home, playing with my son. Not sure what rules are with children. I drive the same child home every day after school.

I thought we weren't supposed to be car sharing or visiting other households right now

NoAprilFool · 25/09/2020 20:04

Only if the play date is outside. No household mixing.
You’re not really meant to be car sharing either.

dementedpixie · 25/09/2020 20:06

Only allowed to meet outdoors

StarterFor77 · 25/09/2020 20:08

No, sadly not ok (also in Scotland). Your DS could meet his friend outdoors, including in a private garden (under 12s can meet as many friends as they like outside), but you can’t have anyone in your house who doesn’t live there (unless within an exception - childcare, tradespeople, providing care, extended households).
You are also not meant to car share, unless it’s childcare (I know it feels strange - my kids can’t get their heads around not being able to have friends who they have been with all day home for a play).

I've allowed that. I live in Wales though where children dont need to social distance from one another. Is it the same in Scotland? I think in England they do still need to social distance

GalesThisMorning · 25/09/2020 20:11

Oh. Maybe I'm in the wrong too

Shopkinsdoll · 25/09/2020 20:36

Thank you. It’s a shame kids are missing out. I give the two kids a lift home from school. Practically 3 min from the school as their mum hasn’t been well so she’s finding it difficult to get there. I just wish the whole virus would disappear to tell you the truth. x

Could you walk them home instead?

Shopkinsdoll · 25/09/2020 23:07

No because I’m coming back from work. I pick the kids up from school. Drop of the 2 children at their house then go home with my own two.
