Has any shops near you ran out of food?

I have only been farmfoods and just been using corner shop and haven't noticed anything - toilet roll was a bit low but curious is anything running out near you?

I can see daily mail posting articles showing people stock piling but I think they are scare mongering and this isn't the case most time - is this true?

Aldi didn't have any Red Leicester last week (they had plenty this week and every other cheese was in stock). Other than that can't think of anything that I haven't been able to obtain and they've even had bread flour, yeast and hand sanitiser in stock for the first time in months for the past fortnight.

Todaythiscouldbe · 24/09/2020 18:37

No toilet rolls in our main supermarkets. Pasta is running short too. Ridiculous!

SaltyAndFresh · 24/09/2020 18:38

The large Tesco here was dead by 6:30 last night. Didn't seem to be much missing. I think those who can stay home are getting scared to go out again.

Lozz22 · 24/09/2020 18:38

I honestly don't know why people had to panic buy in the first place. My OH delivers to the co op. Most of their stores get deliveries twice a day.

katie2812 · 24/09/2020 18:40

@todaythiscouldbe - how crazy.

I will admit first time round I did buy extra things as I live with my gran but this time I don't see the point as shops were open and rationed.

Morrisons have started to restrict items again.

We had an Ocado delivery today. The only item that didn't come was toilet rolls.

katie2812 · 24/09/2020 18:41

My sister said her FIL works at Asda and he has noticed people buying extra items - there isn't a need people should learn first time round we don't need to.

I was in five different shops yesterday, as I’m a prepper and in each one, the staff said they’ve seen more people buying extra stuff, including toilet rolls. I think there might be extra buying than usual, when the end of month wages come in. I’m in NI.

DeliciouslyFemale · 24/09/2020 18:42

Tesco staff were saying that their manager told them there was going to be restrictions put on items, within the next couple of days, so they’ve noticed a difference.

Itsabeautifuldayheyhey · 24/09/2020 19:34

My local Sainsbury's has had a run on Andrex Supreme Quilts but the others seem to be there.
I have tried to get an Ocado delivery and it is blanked out for the whole of October. I tried to do an Asda order and long life milk and baked beans are out of stock.

ginberry4 · 24/09/2020 19:39

Just been for my weekly shop at Tesco- toilet roll virtually all gone except the most expensive brand, no paracetamol, bleach running low, certain types of pasta running low, also flour stocks looked low. Hope this isn’t a sign of worse to come!

eurochick · 24/09/2020 19:40

The loo roll aisle was bare at our local Waitrose this week. Ffs. Do people not learn?

MissPoldark · 24/09/2020 19:44

I wish people would stop starting threads on this and irresponsible news outlets would stop publishing “articles”, it just encourages people even more.

Lol. You say that as though that makes your behaviour justified.

mediumperiperi · 24/09/2020 19:45

No
I've been wondering if it's all fake news with pics from March.

OverTheRainbow88 · 24/09/2020 19:47

Threads like these contribute to the hype and panic buying

I don’t have a car so my friend lent me hers, and as I only had it for the day I bought the things that I need from each shop. I know it might shock you, but you can’t actually buy the same items in every single shop. Amazing that you don’t know that about shops.

Lol. You say that as though that makes your behaviour justified.

What ‘behaviour’ are you taking about? The fact that I was topping up my shopping? Or are you one of these ignorant people that can’t tell the difference between a prepper and a panic buyer? 🙄

I think they do. They have learnt that if they don't get in fast, there won't be anything left.

Bluewavescrashing · 24/09/2020 19:53

When Brexit hits there will be nothing.

MinaMurray · 24/09/2020 19:55

I was in Sainsbury’s today and the shelves looked normal.

Except that they’d run out of turmeric, which was one of the few things I’d popped in for, but the shop running low on turmeric isn’t something that worries me. That’s unlikely to be caused by panic buying.

goose1964 · 24/09/2020 19:55

Our Tesco delivery without any bread. There was plenty in Waitrose this evening.

Dartsplayer · 24/09/2020 19:59

Apparently Tesco near me bare of essentials according to a fb friend and I can't get my usual delivery slot (same slot every week for the past 5 years) - nothing available in October whatsoever so here we go again

ChaChaCha2012 · 24/09/2020 20:00

Preppers like the poster above buy in a methodical way, they're also most likely to be the ones helping others in my experience. There's a big difference between them and panic buyers.

GeorgiaGirl52 · 24/09/2020 20:01

Running low on meat and limiting amount that can be purchased at one time. No lamb, limited lean beef but lots of ground fatty beef. Plenty of chicken.
Oddly there is SO MUCH ICE CREAM. All stores are running a BOGO on all brands. I think the surplus milk that did not go to school lunches was bought by ice cream makers. Now winter is coming they want us to fill our freezers with ice cream?!

Bimbleboo · 24/09/2020 20:01

These threads are what starts it off. Can admin not start deleting them on the basis they just stir up this bollocks.

Full Waitrose delivery here today. Toilet roll and everything (nine rolls. We needed it and i still felt embarrassed as it came off the van in case the neighbours were curtain twitching mumsnetters ready to say they’d seen someone panic buying. Will toilet roll buying always feel cringe from now on?!) Oh they didn’t have my 200g pack of mango but they substituted it for a 500g pack so I’m inclined to think it wasn’t shortage related.

RufustheSniggeringReindeer · 24/09/2020 20:02

I know what you mean deliciously we have to go to asda, makro and tesco to get everything we like/ need
