Has any shops near you ran out of food?

I have only been farmfoods and just been using corner shop and haven't noticed anything - toilet roll was a bit low but curious is anything running out near you?

I can see daily mail posting articles showing people stock piling but I think they are scare mongering and this isn't the case most time - is this true?

Do you think Brexit will affect food? I don't think so businesses are using us and we are using them so I hope it won't affect them

Local Asda and Tesco's both had toilet roll, pasta was low but still available.

How can Brexit not effect food supplies? A massive proportion of our food supplies are imported.

So glad some people have so much time to spend on this when some of us actually have to go to work etc

MissPoldark · 24/09/2020 21:34

She has over 100 toilet rolls left from the last panic buy she did, yesterday she went to Tesco and they only had 2 packs left on the shelf apparently(packs of 32) so she bought both. Then today she went to Costco and bought another, then macro for 2 more.

Hopefully she’ll be shitting through the eye of a needle for the rest of the year to make the best of it.

IndecentFeminist · 24/09/2020 21:51

Yeah, cause no-one can manage to buy an extra few tins while working can they 🙄

vera99 · 24/09/2020 21:59

I had to buy the 6 quid for 6 pack in Tescos this week - as it was the only one left. My arse is going to have a right regal time when that paper hits the crack. It's Cushelle Double Rolls - price-wise the 'Rolls' Royce of paper for those that have loo roll envy. But honestly WTAF - the world continues to turn.

Can't wait....

"With twice as many sheets as our standard roll, an ultra cuddly Cushelle Double Roll lasts even longer so you won't have to change the roll as often.

Cushelle is made with Micro Air Pockets that make it ooh soooo soft and highly absorbent for a comfortable clean feeling, every time."

Yep, shops in my area have empty shelves. Mostly loo rolls, cleaning items, bread, pasta etc. Lots of freezer food has disappeared. Morrisons are limiting items purchased again.

Oh and not a supermarket item, but demand for 'flu jabs has been so great that Boots has now suspended bookings for the time being. And paracetamol is disappearing off all shelves....

Mamamia456 · 24/09/2020 22:12

Don't forget that lots of students have gone back to uni recently so will have bought things like pasta and tinned food which would account for shortages in some areas.

I agree that threads like these don't help.

DeliciouslyFemale · 24/09/2020 22:42

Yes, can Mumsnet pleases delete these threads because some people want to bury their heads in the sand, or complain about preppers panic buying or causing the panic buying? 🙄 I hardly think, considering the comments in newspapers about Mumsnetters, the public is going to run screaming to the shops, because we’re discussing if people have started buying extras. Let’s get back to discussing prams and fluffy kittens or whatever the complaining posters want to discuss.

DeliciouslyFemale · 24/09/2020 22:42

*please

SistemaAddict · 24/09/2020 23:13

@vera99 omg my andrex supreme quilts doesn't give that kind of feeling. I have loo roll envy now! I have sensory issues and some tissue is almost unbearable to touch.

I wonder if anyone has stockpiled Izal...?

Babamamananarama · 24/09/2020 23:19

I couldn't get any pasta at all in my Asda delivery this week. Warning sign...

Giggorata · 24/09/2020 23:53

I think I'm going to install a bum hose in my loo...

TheDrsDocMartens · 25/09/2020 07:56

I’m not buying extra as I’m pretty well stocked but I am replacing things sooner than I would normally. More bothered by Brexit than second wave.
