Im going with my DS to collect a puppy tomorrow, we are in a very low area mostly zero infections a day and I have noticed this report

www.expressandstar.com/news/crime/2020/09/23/patrols-to-be-stepped-up-in-staffordshire-as-coronavirus-cases-rise/?fbclid=IwAR07U59XELaTcwXPM0dHQzB22pBPs3MjmDu020-AeVgOkJJbMUXpuRFqXrE

Its a 3 hour drive there and back, which isn't ideal for the puppy so my DS asked me to go with him and sit in the back with the puppy to keep her calm during the journey back. We are arriving about 6pm and then travelling back with her. I have said I will wait in the car when he goes in to see the puppy and meet his mum etc., all things being good. I am just a little concerned about the level of infection there and things like toilet breaks on route, any tips please?

You’re not breaking any laws so I’m not sure what your concern is? Staffordshire as a county doesn’t have any additional restrictions currently.

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 24/09/2020 00:32

Case numbers wise, Staffordshire isn’t on the PHE list as a concern either.

Thats good, I just googled and that news item came up about on the spot fines of £200 for not wearing a mask, we will of course be wearing a mask but it sounded a lot stricter than the South East which is where I live so I wondered if the reason may be a higher level of infection and further rules.

There are some pockets and obviously areas like Wolverhampton are very near and are in lockdown, but generally Staffordshire is a bit less dense population wise so while numbers have picked up I don’t think they’re at a critical point. Assuming your son wears a mask when he goes into the breeder’s house and washes/sanitises his hands I don’t think you’ll have much to worry about.

Don’t forget to pack towels, puppy may be sick and/or pee in the car!

Yes bringing puppy pads and towels. My DS already has a whippet and wants a second one as they are happier in pairs. I am worrying for the poor mite on the long journey home although she may sleep

I’m in South Staffordshire, according to the online map we have very few cases in our immediate area of the county although we do border Wolverhampton which isn’t faring so well in parts so perhaps the police are concentrating nearer to there.
Whereabouts in Staffordshire are you heading?

6
cases in the latest week 14 Sep-20 Sep
-8
compared with the previous week
513
total cases to 23 Sep
77 coronavirus-related deaths registered to 11 Sep

And this is Staffords
Stafford
36 cases per 100,000 people in the latest week 14 Sep-20 Sep. The average area in England had 19.
50

It’s around 15 miles from Wolverhampton.

It’s my part of the county which is closer to Wolverhampton. Are you heading to the town centre or one of the surrounding villages?

Just a little non-Covid warning but if you’re coming up on the M6 it might be wise to give yourselves a little extra time as it can get very congested coming through the West Mids and Staffordshire during the evening rush hour when you’re due to arrive.
