Antigen Tests

Had a quick search but couldn't find much mention of these.

Is there any reason why the government isn't offering rapid antigen tests?

I had one today, it costs half the price of the PCR test and u got the result within 30 minutes.

It isn't as good as a PCR because they give false negatives 10% of the time and PCRs give false negatives 2% of the time (according to the clinic I used, which offers both types).

But - wouldn't it be better than nothing if people are unable to get a test? Currently people are being completely untested. And it's possible that number of people missed by the false negatives would be lower than the number who give up on a test because they're symptomless and can't get one?
