Just wondering if anyone has had their results back the same day? Tested 9am...... have I got any hope of having them back before the morning?

My daughter was tested 8am Saturday and the results came back Monday at 7pm, so about 59 hrs for us. Such a pain to isolate the whole household for 3 days, not leave the house and not send the two others to school on Monday. People will begin to not comply if the results take this long. And contact tracing will not work. If a positive case takes 3,4,5 days to establish, those people that person has been in contact with will be going about their business for a further 3.4.5 days without being asked to isolate.

@shelikesemwithamoustache

That’s what I am worried about. People will stop
Bothering if it takes 3 days to manage to book a test and then 3 waiting for the results.

Yep, exactly. And what about other kids. So now I know my daughter’s cough is not Covid, when one of the other two inevitably gets a cough later this week, will I spend two days trying to get a test, then 3 days waiting for the result all whilst all 5 of us don’t go to work and school and don’t leave the house? To be honest, I’m not sure I would, so let’s hope I’m not tested!

@shelikesemwithamoustache

I’ve already decided I won’t test the other one if he gets same symptoms. We also had to drive 3 hours to get the test!!!

beckypv · 24/09/2020 07:46

Seems like we were lucky. It came back at 4.30 this morning, 19hrs.

Yes, I think I’m the same. My first daughter’s cough was awful (still is) and she is isolating as a close contact of a confirm case so was always going to get her tested, but the others... not so sure!

That’s great beckypv!

We gave up on the NHS and booked a private test which turned around in 4 hours (negative).

The NHS test finally came back the day after that (also negative) after 93 hours!!!

Lumene · 24/09/2020 09:51

I think people will stop testing for symptoms they can hide If testing is like this. Can’t really do that with a cough though.

WearyandBleary · 24/09/2020 09:54

YES if you are using the NHS service then that’s normal. But usually just health and social care staff and their families.

NO if you are using the SERCO service.

Where did you find a private test with such quick turnaround @Lumene? Was it an in-person one? We've got a home private one arriving today but by the time it's shipped back we are looking at at least another 24hrs.

Cornettoninja · 24/09/2020 09:59

East of England (Essex) and tested by post Tuesday and had the results this morning at 7am by text. (Negative if anyone is curious)

I think area is making a huge difference at the moment but they’re clearly working flat out judging by the timings of communications.

Lumene · 24/09/2020 11:14

@BlueGreyGreens yes it was in person, we googled in desperation. It was drivable for us, and in London area.

YippeeKayakOtherBuckets · 24/09/2020 11:15

18hrs here. South East England.

Heidyx · 24/09/2020 11:19

Deelish75 · 24/09/2020 13:24
