Reinfection has occurred, but so far is a very rare event (11 confirmed reinfections out of probably over 100 million initial infections).

Only time will tell how long the average immunity from natural infection lasts for, some studies have hypothesised that it may last for 1 to 2 years, based on immunity from other coranavirus infections.
