I think he should share more about his personal experience..tell people how bloody awful it is etc. and not to assume that you will be one of those people who just lose their sense of smell.

Look, either this is an act of gross, negligent wanton economic destruction, or COVID is much, much worse than they are telling us.

If we have, as a PP so aptly put it, just listened to a national suicide note, we need to know WHY.

The economy is about to be destroyed. They need to tell the truth.

They haven’t changed the rules on exercise groups so I’m assuming the kids ballet and karate will be going ahead as last week.

Good speech and exactly the right message. Adhering to the new rules and laws isn't optional. Everyone needs to take responsibility for protecting others as well as themselves. If we do that, wear masks, socially distance, we can work, see our children get an education, shop, eat out rather than have a winter locked down at home.

@Itisasecret

Basically saying there, schools are on the table to close (not completely off the table as promised). There is the possibility that your child’s education will be put at risk. This time though, it’s all your fault you naughty rule breakers. Absolutely fuck all to do with the the test system collapsing, we aren’t prioritising teachers and their families for tests, oh and every one in education warned us. I’d laugh if it wasn’t so crap.

It’s the very setup of schools currently which will end in closures. The latest measures will make little difference to the numbers, not when the 2nd highest setting for outbreaks is running pretty much as normal.

How I read it is many businesses will close now and never reopen. Furloughed employees who may have been brought back will now have their employment terminated. Section 21 notices will be issued for renters to leave in March. Mass redundancies will follow and businesses will fall into administration. Many pubs, restaurants and smaller shops had already closed. This will now snowball. A national economic suicide mission has commenced.

I am feeling extremely rebellious right now.

I’ve been patient and complying so far. But these draconian measures not passed through parliament without sufficient evidence...in fact evidence to the contrary ( false positive rare, T cell immunity, actual distortion of statistics) have riled me beyond belief

I don’t think I’m alone. The tide is turning

Conveniently, all this authoritarian lockdown will get a spoiled population, unused to the rigours and discipline of war ... ready for a war.

None of this makes any sense unless COVID is much worse than they're admitting to us - or something else.

I've seen him do a lot worse and I'm no fan. I liked the way he addressed the 'it doesn't matter I'm young it'll be mild for me' and 'just lock up the elderly/vulnerable' shit that's going round on social media.

Still think leaving the pubs open is suicide though.

I have actually thought this for a while, that it's worse than they say it is.

I don't believe this Govt, who try and make people dying of cancer go back to work, have let levels of child poverty rise to the levels they have, kept wages so low that people who work full time still need to to use a food bank have thrown billions of pounds at a furlough scheme for a mild infection!

So we have been very careful. If I have got this right in Scotland and Wales you can’t visit another household except for caregiving, childcare or if your a tradesperson? But what happens in England?

Say for example can both my sister and I visit my recently widowed elderly mum (she doesn’t need care as such but enjoys the company and seeing us). Could I occasionally maybe meet one or two friends for coffee in a large well spaces out restaurant or go out for a meal with one or two of them? Or is it just no visiting anyone in England unless outside?
