Christmas for 7

There's 3 of us (me, DP and DS) and 3 in my sister's family. The plan was that we would spend Christmas at hers with my mum. I've told my mum that we won't be able to do this now with the Rule of 6, but my mum says it's OK because she's in a support bubble with my sister's household. She's wrong, isn't she?

@Feellikedancingyeah

I'm confused.E.g a couple with 2 kids. Can they see one set of parents indoors? That's 6 people altogether from 2 different households

I think you are confusing your countries. In England there is no 2 household rule. In Scotland the children do not count.

Just to give a bit of balance, we are in a similar situation but without the distance, and we will be sticking to the law on Christmas day, whatever that says. Assuming things stay as they are now, we will see each other at church (socially distanced!) then each go back to our own houses (sister to mum and dad's, DH, kids and I back to ours) then do presents over zoom. My household are already getting excited about the prospect of getting a takeaway rather than having a roast! I don't mind breaking guidelines, and have done so once or twice, but I won't break the law.

@mrsmummy1111

Am I the only one who feels a bit sorry for your poor mum here! For the sake of 1 extra person you're going to leave her alone on Xmas day? I couldn't do that
No, my mum's already going to my sisters who she lives around the corner from. So there would be 4 of them, plus us 3. Neither of us would ever leave her alone on Christmas day.
