Have tried Ocado, Waitrose, Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Asda, Morrison’s and NO delivery slots either for 2 weeks or none at all.

Why??? Is something going on that I haven’t heard about?

Ocado seem to be rationing slots @TeddyIsaHe, they aren't releasing all the slots at the same time, so it's worth trying again. I haven't been able to get slots on the day I want quite a few times regularly but if I check back, I have then found every single slot available on the day I originally wanted so I just change my delivery date. I was a bit Hmm at Ocado whipping people up into a frenzy by sending out emails saying that they are getting booked up so hurry up and reserve your slots.

Do you have any of the 1 hour supermarket delivery services near you, like Sainsburys' Chop Chop, Ocado Zoom and whatever the Waitrose one is called? Deliveroo and UberEats also offer groceries (mine has Aldi, the Co-op, Waitrose, Morrisons as well as lots of independents).

For anyone self isolating, elderly or vulnerable Morrisons have a number to call for emergency shops, as well as their food boxes. Morrisons really have dealt with this so much better than any of the other supermarkets looking at you Ocado.

orangenasturtium · 22/09/2020 22:40

@redlockscelt

Ocado emailed me two weeks ago offering a free weekly Ocado reserved slot, maybe you could try that OP?
Ocado reserved slots are only available to the hallowed few selected by the almighty algorithm @redlockscelt. Some people are still on the only allowed to book 3 days ahead regime.
everythingisginandroses · 22/09/2020 22:41

I can only see 1 week ahead on Sainsbury's - is that normal?

AnyFucker · 22/09/2020 22:48

Availability of Morrisons slots have stretched from 1 day to 8 days since the weekend

Throughout April and May I couldn't get one at all

IndecentFeminist · 22/09/2020 22:51

People are booking up because if they have to isolate at short notice and can't go to the shops they won't be able to get a slot.

anotherpersontoday · 22/09/2020 22:55

We have a sainsburys delivery pass and they offered us a regular weekly slot a couple of months ago so we should be guaranteed that delivery at least which is great and takes a bit of stress out of the situation as last time it was hard to get a slot even with a pass.

IndecentFeminist · 22/09/2020 23:00

Yes, my parents were offered a regular slot which they have kept up.

PickAChew · 22/09/2020 23:10

@ceeveebee

Lots of slots for next week on Ocado where I am? Are you somewhere remote?
This has been ocado for me for over a week, now. Sainsburys slots available from the weekend, though.

Legoandloldolls · 22/09/2020 23:13

No problems here. I can still book two slots ahead with Tesco click and collect the same as I have since March.

Went into Tesco today and no evidence of panic buying either. I always have at least two weeks of food in the house anyway. We have absolutely no one to help us if we need to isolate

TeddyIsaHe · 22/09/2020 23:26

I have just discovered the wonder that is Prime Now (thank you to whoever suggested that!) which has same day delivery slots (!!) and some for tomorrow.

Thank god because if people are starting to panic buy again I cannot be dealing with doing a food shop in person again. Nightmare!

RedToothBrush · 22/09/2020 23:36

If you can't get a delivery but can get out, click and collect is a reasonable compromise even with a toddler in tow.

No problems with either here though.

MarjorytheTrashHeap · 22/09/2020 23:38

Essex. Can't even log on to the Ocado site tonight - it's been hard to get them for the last couple of weeks and they've gone up to £6.99 for each delivery again. Got a Waitrose slot for the weekend ok.

JacobReesMogadishu · 22/09/2020 23:40

Hopefully now as people realise there isn’t an imminent lockdown demand will drop off and slots become available.

Deelish75 · 23/09/2020 06:37

@everythingisginandroses

The app is only offering one week. The website is offering two weeks. I’m a delivery pass holder so it may still be one week if you’re not one.
Pipandmum · 23/09/2020 06:42

Not an issue where I live. Can get deliveries most days - not always the nextt day but usually within a couple or collection is available. I am beginning to stock up on staples a bit - just to have a weeks supply of pasta etc. There was never any shortages even at peak lockdown except for pasta, rice, tuna and sweetcorn which my son eats most days.

TeddyIsaHe · 23/09/2020 06:45

We had so many shortages. At one point pretty much the only thing you could buy at Tesco was corona beer Grin

Some of it might not be in anticipation of restrictions, it may be people who can't get hold of Covid tests so are self isolating for a couple of weeks - in theory they can go shopping for essentials but only if they cant get them delivered.

FlemCandango · 23/09/2020 07:15

I reserved a couple of slots for shopping delivery for next fortnight as we are now in a 14 day household isolation period. Dd2 has symptoms and a +ve case in her school. I managed to book her a Covid test for this morning but I have no way of knowing if she will be -ve and it may take a few days for result. So I have to plan for being in isolation. I imagine a lot of people are in similar situations. Not panicking but planning ahead.

anotherpersontoday · 23/09/2020 09:54

I was talking to a friend the other week who was thinking about setting up online grocery deliveries and I told her to do it asap as demand would only increase in over the autumn. Hope she did so!

Scarlettpixie · 23/09/2020 16:50

Loads of slots here with Tesco (Derbyshire) from Sunday onwards. Seems to be a regional issue. I have been getting a weekly delivery and everything has been in stock for the past month or so and there are no longer any restrictions on the amount of one item you can buy.
