School Covid Testing Fiasco Latest

So I’m reading that as a result of the testing fiasco they are rationing tests. Teachers are I believe No 5 on the priority list but children aren’t listed at all, which I suppose means zero chance of a test within 250 mile radius. Whatever your view on school opening this goes against the letter signed by CMO which stated testing is a prerequisite for schools operating safely.

How is this going to work now? Kids isolating for 14 days as they cannot be tested? Parents sending sick children in even more?

What an utter mess!

Having no testing available for pupils makes schools a totally unsafe environment.
I'm amazed at the "I'm alright Jack" attitude so many people seem to have, yes your child might only get mild symptoms, however their vulnerable classmate, teacher, family members might not be so lucky. Letting the virus spread unchecked amongst young people will lead to a huge strain on the NHS, cost more money in the long run and cost lives.

It's obviously not right to pretend that your DC is an essential worker to get a test that the system isn't offering them in propria persona. Please don't do that! If one isn't available then either keep them off for the two weeks or, if you can afford it, pay for one. But think how much worse it would be for the teacher to be off unnecessarily for two weeks than a single child. Or how dangerous it would be for someone working in a care home unwittingly to infect a lot of vulnerable patients because you'd taken the test for your child.

The system is shit, but we have to be respectful as parents of people with a greater need for tests than our DC.
