Childs Year group - 1 positive case HELP!

Bunglemom · 21/09/2020 10:37

So just had a message to collect DD from primary school as there has been a positive case of Corona in her year group. Year group is split into 3 classes and no information as to which class the positive test was in.
DD is unable to go to school until 30th Sept (as confirmed by the school) but do i need to go home from work and isolate with her?! No symptoms at all in our house so i have no idea what to do!

So confused?!

Your daughter needs to isolate at home for 14 days. She doesn't need a test unless she displays symptoms.

The test of the family can carry on as normal. You are not required to also isolate, unless your daughter or any of the rest of you get symptoms.

I hope everyone is ok.

I believe only your child has to isolate. You do have to unless your child shows symptoms.

How old is DD?

ritzbiscuits · 21/09/2020 10:48

Agree with the above, I think it's pretty poor on the school that they haven't been clear what you do/don't need to do, aside from not come to school.

ineedaholidaynow · 21/09/2020 10:52

You don't need to know which class the positive result was in. I can just imagine the WhatsApp groups etc trying to find out which child it is. That information is not necessary.

Same thing in my house. Your child isolates and that means not leaving the house. Not popping to the swing park , not nipping to McDonald’s. It means staying indoors . Class work should be set and completed on google classrooms . You and the rest of the household only isolate if your child was to show symptoms and then test positive.

I bet the school provide more info shortly, give them a chance. As per the guidelines that have been widely circulated, only your dd needs to isolate, unless she gets symptoms (then you all do). However if she is primary age, presumably someone will need to stay home with her anyway? She cannot go out at all, even for childcare.

You may need to up your hand hygiene etc in the house too, so try not to share too many things with your DD

Just been through this myself dd year 1 had 2 days back in then home to isolate her teacher tested positive every1 else In house can go out unless she gets symptoms. My dd went back today and rest of the school follows this week most of the teachers came down with it an only year 5 was left thankfully all OK an no children caught it.

Sweettea1 · 21/09/2020 22:58

who said it was a child? Every1 thinks its the kids my dd school had nearly every year group of last 2 weeks only 1 year group was in how many children do you think it had? Not one it was all the teachers an they had only been in 2 days.

Timeforanotherusername · 21/09/2020 23:01

just to say your child does not need to stay indoors, if you have a garden.
