Testing well people?

I’ve been filling in the daily survey on the Zoe app. I work in healthcare and have kids in school, no health conditions or risk factors for covid.

Yesterday I got a request to take a test as part of the ongoing studies. I understand they are wanting data from people with no symptoms so I get why I was contacted. However it feels inappropriate to be taking a test for a study when so many people I know locally are trying desperately to access a test for their child with a fever so they can come out of isolation if it’s negative.

So far I’ve not tried to book and I don’t think I’m going to, as I don’t have the time to keep refreshing pages all day. The booking system for study tests is the same as the one used if you have symptoms.

Is it wrong to keep trying to test healthy people when the current situation with testing is so screwed up?

It is important research, that is why they are doing it. Helps give a picture of carriers with no symptoms. Every small piece of information about the virus improves understanding and the ability to tackle it, so you are helping not hindering by taking the test.
