School bubble isolation question

3kidsandafewcats · 20/09/2020 12:51

When a bubble has been sent home to isolate for 14 days after someone tests positive is it from when the positive child was last in school? So if it takes 5 days for child to go for a test and get a result the rest of the bubble only have to isolate for 9 days? Also will track and trace call everyone up in the bubble and when would you expect a call?

Not sure but a bubble was isolated from our school last week when 2 family members of a child tested positive (not the child themselves!) and it was 14 days from when the school were informed.

That doesn’t sound right @Titsywoo! How can they possibly be insisting a bubble isolates if no one in the bubble has tested positive!! Surely only if the child developed symptoms and tested positive should they then be looking at isolating anyone else Confused

My friends school had a bubble told to isolate and that was based on the last day the infected child was actually at school.

I agree! I don't understand it at all.

Maybe the child had symptoms but I'm pretty sure they said the child was fine Confused

My DD is isolating for 14 from when the child was last in school and we have had no contact from Test and Trace. I don't know whether that means she had no close contact or whether they aren't contacting anyone because the whole bubble are isolating anyway.
The bubbles are too big, they can't test 300 kids

I believe it is 14days from when the school are informed of a positive case. Although in reality the last close contact could have been days prior to this if the child was off school or if last in on a Friday and school informed the following week. Track and trace are not involved, the school take advice from PHE and local authorities.
