What time did you get your test result?

I have a cold which has developed into a cough, pretty sure it’s just a cold and not COVID but nevertheless as the cough is pretty persistent I went for a test at lunchtime yesterday to be sure.

Anyway, I haven’t hadn’t result back yet and am just wondering what time tests are sent out from and until? Apparently most results are received next day but I’m assuming it’s too late now to receive it before tomorrow? Also wondering whether test results are being sent out at the weekend or if it’ll most likely be Monday now?

Anyone had a test who can share their experience of when and how the results were sent?

I had my text at 9:30pm on a week night, the day after my test.

About 10pm - on a Friday night, then the next night for the other person.

5 days after testing, at 10ishpm

Interested to hear. Sent off a postal test on Thursday. I know I filled all the online stuff in, but now I am convincing myself that I didn’t.

Totally varies. Between the 4 of us in our house we’ve had about 10 tests - various unclear ones on the kids. One took 4 days, from a mobile site. Most often it’s been within 24hrs tho. Results for me have always been 6-7am or 5-6pm. In Scotland tho so not sure if the system is separate.

Sent off thurs afternoon, heard at midday today. Quite impressed.

Ours was at a testing centre a few weeks ago, 3.30pm on a Saturday. My result were through by 12.30 on Sunday, kids and DW' by 2pm same day.

Interesting to hear that texts were received up to 10pm at night and sounds like mostly they’re only taking a day or two to arrive. Keeping fingers crossed that if it doesn’t come tonight it at least comes tomorrow so I can (hopefully) get back to work on Monday!

Out of curiosity, for those who’ve received multiple text results - do you think there’s any difference in length of time waited between positive, unclear and negative results? I admit I’ve convinced myself that because it’s been over 24 hours it won’t be a negative result!

DD got hers at 6:54am on a friday. Think hers took 3 or 4 days to come back and that was just over a week ago.

DD's was negative!

9:00am after 46 hours - Negative
18:00pm after 51 hours - Negative

Mine came at 1pm, 26 hours after the test and was positive. The person I went with received theirs about half an hour later and was negative.

Email at 4am 😴.

We did two, got the negative one first then positive several hours later at 3am!

Then did 3 more, had two negatives in the day and still waiting on the 3rd...

4.10 am. Grateful for the lab workers who are working night and day on getting test results out!

Sent off postal test Weds 4pm
Recieved email result Friday 2.30pm

Drive through test 3pm weekday. Result 11am next day. This was a few weeks ago though!

@BillysMyBunny we’d negative results after the five day waif, but I think we were so long because it’d been postal tests too! I was paranoid I’d not filled out the online forms properly as well, called the number and was told they’d launch an investigation after 4 days of waiting, we received them the next night by text, then the morning after by email

Thanks everyone. Good to know that length waiting doesn’t correlate with test result. Also to know that the results can come at early hours of morning - will make sure my phone is on silent overnight.

Totally agree with the posters who have said they’re thankful that there are lab workers working throughout the night to process all of the tests as quickly as possible - so many different people in different roles doing so much to help through all this.

Wanted to update this just to say my negative result has been emailed through - sent at 11:30pm which was about 34.5 hours after the test. Haven’t got the text through yet but it sounds like the text and email came at different times for others too. Again, very thankful to those who’ve been working late into the weekend to get out the test results so quickly.
