Now don't get me wrong I followed the rules to the letter and still am doing as I don't want to break the law.

However I think it's all a massive overreaction and I don't want to sit by and allow my children's generation to be destroyed.

Their education is totally fucked, they will not get to have the same social experiences as we did as young people.

Why is everyone happily sitting by and allowing our government to restrict our lives over a virus that kills 0.01% of people. Whilst 1000s of people are dying every day due to the lack of treatment and social interactions.

I really just do not feel comfortable with all the laws on our freedom being changed so dramatically over a virus if truth be told is not as deadly as they would like us to be believed.

Don't get me wrong I have sympathy for those people who lost their lives and for the people who will lose their lives in the future but no more than for the people who die of flu and other viruses each year.

@mrshoho

I wouldn’t hang your hat on a vaccine. SARS...MERS...no other Coronavirus vaccine has ever been successfully developed.

If there is to be a route out, it needs to be sooner rather than later as this economic suicide is clearly not sustainable for much longer

Personally, I think the treatment route is more likely.

Geez, you're really not keeping up, are you.

TheSeedsOfADream · 21/09/2020 11:40

Mummypop00- you're copying and pasting your own posts from the other thread now. Are the answers you've received on that one not good enough for you?

MummyPop00 · 21/09/2020 11:41

@cbt944

Show me where both a licensed & effective Coronavirus vaccine has previously been developed then?

ksohh0 · 21/09/2020 11:42

@MummyPop00 Well its seems like according to the professionals a vacinne next year is very likely so I shall go ahead and ignore your, no doubt well informed, opinion for now.

MummyPop00 · 21/09/2020 11:48

@ksohh0

Maybe there will be one. On past evidence it’s more likely there won’t be though.

But hey, there’s nothing like the human tendency to cling on to false hope is there?

Problem is here though, our economy is falling through the floor simultaneously and people like you think we have a bottomless pit of money.

ksohh0 · 21/09/2020 11:54

@MummyPop00 You can keep repeating the same things, but no matter how patronising you are I do realise that you have no inside knowledge or particular education on this topic, and so I consider your opinion worthless. You're boring me in fact.

Cornettoninja · 21/09/2020 11:56

@MummyPop00, so you’re completely discounting the veterinary ones then? Note the oneS.

They prove it’s possible to create a vaccine against a corona virus. Whether it’s possible for this particular strain remains to be seen but people a lot more educated and knowledgeable than you are I are optimistic so it’s baffling you seem to think you know better. But then you do seem to be giving off the impression your opinion should be treated with as much respect as any actual fact.

Cornettoninja · 21/09/2020 11:58

Maybe there will be one. On past evidence it’s more likely there won’t be though

What evidence exactly? The Christmas cracker factoids you seem fond of spouting?

MummyPop00 · 21/09/2020 12:02

Ok then, let’s see.

But if we wait and it’s waiting in vain, just bear in mind you & your children will be paying for the privilege forever.

In fact, we won’t be waiting very long, because put simply, we cannot afford to.

So, the clock is most definitely ticking on a vaccine.

Cornettoninja · 21/09/2020 12:04

And the people supporting restrictions are the doom monger drama lamas Hmm

What are you talking about? The evidence is out in the open regarding the vaccine progress for covid19. Are you still harping back to SARS?

MummyPop00 · 21/09/2020 12:08

You all base your optimism on something that has got everything to prove.

I base my pessimism on the situation as it is.

Skyla2005 · 21/09/2020 12:08

I totally agree with op. This is just crazy. We all need to get the virus to get rid of it for god sake. Protect the vulnerable and let’s just get on with it

And these ludicrous, uneducated opinions continue to be espoused - even after the CMO and CSA have explained why this cannot be allowed to happen as it would be detrimental to us all. They must get so fed up with banging their heads against the wall.

Cornettoninja · 21/09/2020 12:25

I base my pessimism on the situation as it is.

Which is why we should be thankful your not in charge.

Realism is what’s needed and that includes trying any and all avenues available to balance what the whole country (indeed world) needs. That will include both pessimism and optimism and the need to be capable of incorporating both.

No need to put on your end is nigh sandwich boards just yet.

Really? Don't you think that if it was that simple governments and leaders across the globe would have thought to do this? Can you fast forward and envisage what the world would look like in a year without any restrictions to slow the transmission?
MummyPop00 · 21/09/2020 12:28

@Cornettoninja

Ok Cornetto.

Tell me how long you think is reasonable or feasible to wait for your positive solution? Except, it isn’t 100% positive as there is plenty of collateral damage at the moment.

Shooglywheel · 21/09/2020 12:34

I hear you @MummyPop00. To date, no one has been able to develop a vaccine for other diseases caused by coronaviruses.

Shooglywheel · 21/09/2020 12:36

I also think we need to carry on with life now and go with herd immunity.

Cornettoninja · 21/09/2020 12:39

@MummyPop00 there is no 100% positive solution. Every option has terrible consequences for someone but prioritising the health services right now means less individual suffering and an uncontrollable rise in mortality figures. Societal unrest will happen whether it’s over economic impact or fear, in fact I would put my money on the impact of brexit rumbling away in the background and that’s going to be hard to unpick from the consequences of COVID.

I suspect current methods and restrictions will be revisited in the spring when we are past the usual winter pressures.

Derbygerbil · 21/09/2020 12:43

I also think we need to carry on with life now and go with herd immunity.

It’s interesting that these type of comments are tend to be so perfunctory. There’s no consideration of the impact or the complications, but just a childish subtext of “I’m bored of it now and I can’t be bothered.”

TheClaws · 21/09/2020 12:44

Who has time to sit around sock puppeting so unimaginatively?
HoldingTight · 21/09/2020 12:47

@Shooglywheel

I also think we need to carry on with life now and go with herd immunity.

Did you not listen to the scientists? 'Herd immunity' (if it is even possible with this novel virus) is not an option as our healthcare would become overwhelmed. This would result in thousands of direct Covid related deaths plus thousands more caused by lack of urgent care capacity and, in the longer term, non-urgent care.

Seriously - why are so many people spouting such bollocks?

Delatron · 21/09/2020 12:48

I think even the experts say it’s not 100% guaranteed will get a vaccine. Hopefully yes but it’s not a given.

Therefore we kind of need another strategy as continual lockdown will ruin far more lives than COVID.

I’m not suggesting no measures. Just not complete lockdown over and over.

I think treatments will get better. I think the death rate will be nowhere like March when we didn’t have a clue what we were doing or how many people had the virus

I also think there is new evidence coming about about T-Cell immunity lasting many, many years in SARS and we are seeing t-cells playing more of a role than antibodies in this virus
