Would you not see your friends and family?

BJ seems to be floating the idea of a 2 week national restriction on socialising in October. Essential work would stay open, but people will be told not to socialise with any other household. Sky news reported

"Proposals being worked up for such a "circuit break" could see essential travel to schools and workplaces continuing, but restaurants and bars would shut - or perhaps run on restricted hours - and different households would be asked not to mix."

Where I live, there are about 10 cases a week, and we havent had a death since august 23rd. I know that's not the case around the whole country, so I am asking would you comply with the government bringing in restrictions that mean you go to work, but you cannot see another household? They are proposing this would last for 2 weeks minimum.

Do you think it will help as we head into winter, or is it just another finger plaster over a gaping wound?

This what is already happening in Bolton but it is not stopping the rates of infection from rising dramatically

Megan2018 · 18/09/2020 12:12

Of course I’d comply. It won’t do me any harm.
I didn’t see anyone March-June, a few more weeks or months is fine.

I live rurally and virtually 0 cases here, but that’s not the point, for it to work we would all have to do it.

Mcmole · 18/09/2020 12:12

I haven't been able to see my family since February anyway so to be honest it wouldn't make any difference to me!

Rosehip10 · 18/09/2020 12:12

What is the point of the government saying much? You can agree or disagree with restrictions but when you are relying on good will to enforce them it is pointless.

ineedaholidaynow · 18/09/2020 12:15

I would do it, if it breaks the cycle of infection. Unfortunately there are too many people who won’t comply, even if it was just for 2 weeks

Jrobhatch29 · 18/09/2020 12:15

I love in the NE and we have those restrictions now. It's shit and I hate it. I can cope not seeing friends or other family but hate the thought of not seeing my parents

Mol1628 · 18/09/2020 12:16

If it was a couple of weeks yes. If it ran into months like last time no.

Littlemiss74 · 18/09/2020 12:18

@Anna713 why do you think it’s not working in Bolton? Are people just not abiding to the rules?

NewStart2020MyArse · 18/09/2020 12:19

I, and thousands may be millions of others, cannot mentally cope with a lockdown like the one that happened in March. I will not comply for my families sake. Call me selfish if you like. I don't care. Its survival of the fittest now. Sorry....

lughnasadh · 18/09/2020 12:21

I wouldn't comply. I've worked with the public right through.

I could invite my family to pitch up at my workplace.

I sit with others in the cinema, restaurants, on public transport.

It makes no sense to avoid them their/my home. So I won't.

LastGoldenDaysOfSummer · 18/09/2020 12:22

I imagine it will contain the half term week so make it even more of a break.

kittensarecute · 18/09/2020 12:26

I'll be continuing to see my dad as I have been, I've got to put my mental health first.

DamitJanet · 18/09/2020 12:28

I would comply, and am restricting the amount of contacts I’m having now. Sadly I think many will ignore, which means it’ll be entirely ineffective.

LadyCatStark · 18/09/2020 12:30

I will do whatever needs to be done to keep schools open.

Remmy123 · 18/09/2020 12:30

I will not comply - still only know two people that had it (outside London)

Tfoot75 · 18/09/2020 12:31

I would, for a long time my only 'must have' is that schools stay open so my children can access an education and I can work. I get all my emotional support in the home though.

Interested whether support bubbles can continue though, as worry about my mother being isolated on her own.

Blurp · 18/09/2020 12:34

I would comply if it was for two weeks and they used those two weeks to build up testing etc and generally put in place measures to see us through the winter without another lockdown.

I don't think DH would though. We're currently in a "local lockdown" area and he's been ignoring it, which is frustrating because I don't feel I can see my parents while he's out getting exposed to all sorts. He says he doesn't see the point, though.

DumplingsAndStew · 18/09/2020 12:34

If its declared then it will be a huge disappointment to one of my DC as we have plans to do something we had to postpone in April. We'll do it though, because they wouldn't make this decision for fun.

amieejust · 18/09/2020 12:35

But it won't just be for two weeks. Probably two months or longer. I

1990shopefulftm · 18/09/2020 12:35

I haven't seen them in six months and i m in a local lockdown area so am prepared to carry on for quite a bit longer. At this point all that I'm bothered about is not having to give birth and being on a postnatal ward alone as I'm due at the end of October, they just changed my hospital's restrictions so they're a lot better than they were but i know they could still change things back in the next 6 weeks.

RaspberryToupee · 18/09/2020 12:36

I don’t live anywhere near my family or in-laws and we haven’t seen any family since February. My local friends are predominantly prioritising seeing their own family (which is understandable). So most of my social interactions are happening at work on the one visit to site every month. Or with the neighbour on the drive. So it’s going to make bugger all difference to me.

Fawnfour · 18/09/2020 12:40

Why would you not comply?
We all have to comply, ti make this work.
Why are there still selfish people saying
No I will not comply!!!

AlexaShutUp · 18/09/2020 12:42

Yes, of course I would comply.

SqidgeBum · 18/09/2020 12:43

This is my worry. I am due the very start of November. I am terrified of labouring alone, but also terrified of DH going back to work, and me being at home with 2 under 2, one being a newborn, and not being able to see anyone or get any help. I had major PND and psychosis last time. I am not sure how I would cope.

I only see them a couple of times a year anyway at most
