Private COVID tests

There is a lot of talk on here and in the news regarding the testing shambles. I've also just seen on my local Facebook people's frustrations at being sent into central London, over 50 miles away to get a test. How would you even get there? Drive?

This may be an obvious question but faced with a long drive and days of waiting, is it possible to say screw this shit and get a test privately? I think I'd rather be a bit skint for a week than edit and have DC off school.

Anyone just done it privately?

Drive miles and have DC off school, not edit something obviously.

You can buy them privately yes. I’ve not done it but I would consider doing it myself if we needed to. Minimum about £180 though and if postal will still take a few days (most private clinics are in London and not seeing symptomatic people in person, only those who are well but want a fit to fly certificate). You can even now get saliva tests privately from at least one provider I believe which is obviously attractive when dealing with children. Impossibly expensive for many people though I would think.

Have you got a link to the saliva tests please as I thought this test hasn't been approved yet?

City Doc, though I think there are also private providers offering large scale saliva tests to employers etc.
