How many schools are there with confirmed cases in your area ?

There are 6 in my county.

No idea, I wouldn't know how to find out. DS's school isn't.

middleager · 17/09/2020 20:33

Between 50 and 100 in a week, including both my two DCs' secondaries. One is having to SI and several cases at the other's school.

Birmingham.

BeyondsConstantBangingHeadache · 17/09/2020 20:36

In my immediate area, there are three primaries and a secondary. Confirmed cases of students in one primary and one secondary, with a confirmed parent case (at least one that I know of, anyway) in one of the other primaries.

I'm in South Wales, but not RCT or Caerphilly.

@Crunchymum

How do you find out?

I mean I assume I'd know about my own school but how would I know about others?

Some of ours are in the news, but others (like DCs' schools are not). I counted up 50 reported days ago in the region, but I have heard of lots since then like DCs' schools where it doesn't make the news.

I now assume most schools in my area and I give it 1-2 weeks before it all implodes. They might be sending home year groups or classes, but once the teachers are down too then it's game over.

@SoManyActivities

Are the cases in schools mostly staff or kids?
It's a mixture. Primaries, secondaries, staff.
lljkk · 17/09/2020 20:40

Only one case / 100k persons in my area this last week.

My area is 100k persons afaik.

I imagine that means not a single school is currently affected.

Yoyomar · 17/09/2020 20:42

30 in my county and we're not in an area that is being talked about as high levels.

mediumperiperi · 17/09/2020 21:25

3 in my local town of 220k - 2 secondary, 1 primary.
The primary school is teachers and pupils while the secondary school is just pupils.

We aren't a local lockdown area and have a test centre but people are being sent elsewhere.

Qasd · 17/09/2020 21:34

None here, one year 7 had it in a local school but they hadn’t really attended (for like an hour induction so no closure) we do have comparatively low infection rates in the country but as everywhere they are rising!

WoobyWoo · 17/09/2020 21:43

Medium town, six so far.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 17/09/2020 21:52

Quiet N Wales area. 40 cases in the county in the last week. 5 schools (most of them in a 5 mile radius from where we are) in the last week too.

Pipandmum · 17/09/2020 21:55

One primary school with a child who tested positive and the the child's year bubble off for two weeks. Rest are business as usual.

Bingobongo1 · 17/09/2020 22:21

Dc1 college 2 courses have been affected and reverted to 100% on line learning (one was due to 3 lecturers the other due to a student).
Secondary 1700 pupils no disruption.
No local primaries affected.

AdelaidePlace · 17/09/2020 22:37

Large LA and I see data across all schools.
About half have symptomatic children or staff. Eight schools have positive pupils or staff. Another six have pupils with parents or siblings who have tested positive. Many have children in isolation due to symptomatic family members.

AdelaidePlace · 18/09/2020 20:13

An update, 20 (6%) schools with positive cases. Two schools fully closed as staff have tested positive and there is no other cover.
The rest have partial closures.
