Smelling smoke

I have a dry cough, unproductive. But coughing regularly but not in large coughing fits. Just one or two coughs about 10 times an hour.

I feel a bit off, stiff neck and general ugh.

But I can smell smoke. And have done for 3 days. Def no-one is smoking, I've aired the house, opened and closed windows. I think I can taste and smell as normal just with an undercurrent of smoke.

There are no tests available. But would I even need one? Does it even sound like CV?

I have had this on and off all summer. In my case, I suspect mild hay fever. See www.nhs.uk/conditions/lost-or-changed-sense-smell/

A bit more here

I have tested 3 times for Covid and all negative.

Smelling smoke that’s not there can be a symptom of Covid but also of a cold/flu.

PablosHoney · 16/09/2020 18:59

And much more rarely a brain tumour

My husband had this. We all think we had Covid back in March, bad coughs etc but DH had a cough, temperature, backache and completely lost his sense of smell and kept saying all he could smell was cigarette smoke. He still hasn't got his full sense of smell back.

I'm calling bullshit on smelling smoke symptom of covid people seem desperate to have it

PablosHoney · 16/09/2020 19:08

It’s on the NHS website or are you calling bullshit on the OP?

HeresMe · 16/09/2020 19:12

On the site let's make loads of symptoms up , ffs sake a cough is a common thing.

PablosHoney · 16/09/2020 19:15

😂😂😂 Ok 👌

I'll try the salt washout on the NHS website and hope it's an allergy.
I still can smell just smoke on top of normal smells.

Houston we have a problem. Three test because you ‘smell smoke’ ?????

ODFOD. I teach - spent weeks with keyworker children with parents testing positive every now and again. 2 of the tests taken on the day so of the Zoe app.

And as I said very clearly, I have suffered this all summer on and off because, I believe, of mild hay fever.
