Toddler with temp & snotty nose

Can’t get a test. Temp is only slight but she’s wiped out (asleep by 6:30 which is unheard of!)
Has a very very bunged up snotty nose though so would this suggest not corona?

The only thing that will confirm she doesn't have it is a test, does she need one though? What's her temperature?

Wingingthis · 14/09/2020 19:28

I don’t know I’m very confused about tests. She has a temperature which is one of the 3 listed symptoms on nhs. It’s 38.2
All tests are unavailable :(
Worried as she has a 4 month old sister as well

From what I gather the snotty nose thing is a myth. Could still be Covid - whole family needs to isolate until you get a negative result... whenever that might be thanks to the current backlog!
Hope all turns out ok Flowers

The top 5 symptoms on the zoe app for school aged children are:
fatigue (55%)
headache (53%),
fever (49%),
sore throat (38%)
and loss of appetite (35%)

Unfortunately, they don't include toddlers. So yes get your toddler tested as she has two of the top five symptoms.

PHE (so in turn the NHS) delayed adding loss of smell and taste for months there as researchers made a big noise about it once they realised it was a common symptom in adults, so when I check if anyone I know could have Covid I check research sources particularly ones where I am part of the study.

I was in the same situation with my daughter. She had a snotty nose and temperature but we all had to isolate as it is a Covid symptom.
Unsurprisingly, the result came back as negative, but it's just one of those things at the moment.
Keep trying online, I spent a few hours on Wednesday morning reloading the page, it went from zero slots to 8 slots in a few minutes!! I think they keep updating them.

She has a temperature so she needs a test before you can all come out of isolators ion. Sorry
