Chasing up covid results

Ginqueen456 · 14/09/2020 17:17

Has anyone had to chase up your covid results after the 48 hour mark? I've called and they've launched an investigation but the call handler couldn't give me any sort of time scale and said if they can't find the results they won't be in contact!! Question is how long was it after you chased the results when did you get the results please?

Watching with interest. At the 55 hour mark and not so much as a peep.

RhubarbBikini · 14/09/2020 17:29

We were told when tested on friday the results would take 72 hours. The bloke who said this had a certain glint in his eye which made me think he was lying.

It's now 74 hours post testing and I'm feeling too poorly to try and chase it up

MummysBusy · 14/09/2020 17:36

We are 60+ hours with no results. Im not going to chase it until day 5 as thats the longest they said it would take.

Wouldnt be surprised if the results come in after the 10 day isolation period tbh.

musicalfrog · 14/09/2020 17:41

I had a test mid August, had the same chat with 119 and never heard anything more. Don't forget how many tests are being voided because they are being damaged in transit to Europe, or transported at the incorrect temperature.

covetingthepreciousthings · 14/09/2020 17:44

So with postal tests.. they say roughly 48-72 hours for results - is that from posting the test back, or from when it arrives at the lab?

I'm so frustrated with the system, we sent our test back Friday and still nothing. Reading through these threads it looks like we aren't alone either in our wait.

Kitcat47 · 14/09/2020 17:47

I was told if they find your test you will get a text email. If they don't find it you will hear nothing!! The person with symptoms isolates 10 days and the others in household 14 days its a farce!!

Kitcat47 · 14/09/2020 17:48

we sent my daughters test away on a Friday. Got results Wednesday Afternoon

LJL1 · 14/09/2020 17:55

I have had to chase two tests (at 72 hours and 96 hours), and both results came back within 24hrs of them being escalated. It's definitely worth doing. If the test is lost, though, their policy is to never inform you..

Ginqueen456 · 14/09/2020 18:05

Whole system is a joke, absolutely appalling that they don't inform us if they can't find the test!

My postal test took 10 days to come back and that was mid-August when it was less busy than it is now...

Greysparkles · 14/09/2020 18:14

It's almost like they're doing it deliberately, so when people don't isolate for 7-14 days (as they can't afford too, esp without a test result to show an employer!!!) they've got a nice neat slice of people to blame for the "rise in cases"

moostermum · 14/09/2020 18:16

DD was tested at drive through Friday at 7pm. Results just came back now. Tried calling 119 for the last 2 days but you just get cut off as they're too busy.

Egghead68 · 14/09/2020 18:17

Sometime you just never get the result back.

chergar · 14/09/2020 18:19

We posted my daughter's on Thursday 4pm, still not heard anything, when I phone the helpline I can't speak to anyone and they just say to SI for 10 days from start of symptoms, which means the rest of us have to SI for 14 days, husband is a keyworker and has to show his employer our DD negative test before going back.

It is a shambles

Mykidsaremylife68 · 14/09/2020 18:26

I’ve been waiting 8 days now. Can’t speak to anyone at 119. They have an option now to press 1 if you’re chasing results, then they say they can’t chase results because they’re too busy and then they cut you off! ConfusedConfusedHmmConfused

covetingthepreciousthings · 14/09/2020 18:29

*husband is a keyworker and has to show his employer our DD negative test before going back.

We both DH and I have to show neg test results to go back, and I think we also need to show test results to actually get paid so not sure how that works if we don't receive anything Confused

Ginqueen456 · 14/09/2020 18:31

@Mykidsaremylife68 if you press 2 to continue at that option it puts you through to an advisor and they can chase up the results

Mykidsaremylife68 · 14/09/2020 18:38

Really? I thought that was for ordering tests. Ok thanks I'll try it. 🤞

Ginqueen456 · 14/09/2020 19:18

Yeah they're really sneaky with the options!

Just to give you all a bit of hope i chased the results just after the 48 hour mark and they finally came through at 6am this morning.

DS tested sunday 15:30, result Tuesday 05:00.
Is generally suggest that you book another test after 48 hours if you haven't heard anything - otherwise you may miss the 5 day window. I know that seems wasteful but so I'd being unnecessarily quarantined.

LulusMiniEgg · 15/09/2020 06:51

Tested Saturday 2.30pm, (Negative) test results just came through at 6am, Let’s All get back To school and work!!!

CleverKnot · 15/09/2020 06:52

Someone on Twitter is calculating (from official data) that only 10% of tests are coming back within 48 hours. Shock

CornishTiger · 15/09/2020 06:56

I chased and got a no result text an hour later. Definitely lost and I know I had covid.

ListenLinda · 15/09/2020 07:48

We got our negative result via email at 10pm last night, text came through at 6am. 60 hours from testing to result.
