A student at local drinking instructor has tested positive this week for Covid .He is carrying on teaching including my sons gf but I am worried about son seeing his gf as his dad has heart disease . Should instructor still be teaching ?

Think it depends on PPE. I thought you isolate if you have been I close contact with someone positive (less than 2m for 15 mins) unless you are wearing protective ppe (which would mean not just a standard mask).

If the student in question had a lesson within 48 hours of developing symptoms it is likely that the instructor should be isolating. If his previous lesson was longer than this before developing symptoms it is extremely unlikely as it is usually only contacts from the prior 48 hours that are asked to isolate.
Other than in medical settings the use of PPE will rarely, if ever, negate the need to isolate, both because of the fact that such PPE is rarely medical grade and because there is a good chance it is being incorrectly used.
