Would you test for these symptoms?

According to NHS I don't have symptoms of Covid. But the website said to ring 111. Tried but they're that busy I've been on hold for half an hour.

My symptoms are: runny nose and a chest infection. Only coughing to shift phlegm.

No temp no headache or anything else.

Work have said I'll need a test but I can't seem to speak to anyone to confirm or deny. I've checked online and there are non available anyway.

Does anyone else have any advise?

I think you reiterate to your work that a. Your symptoms don’t necessitate a test and b. There aren’t any anyway.
Can you just wfh for now if you’re not already ?

To he honest, I would think you'd be lucky at the moment to even get a test! And with waiting time for results, you'll probably be isolating for close to 10 days anyway.

Maybe ring your GP for advice if you have a chest infection?

HOw do you know it's a chest infection?

If it's a new cough, then you need to isolate and try and get a test.

While they don't sound like classic covid symptoms, it does sound like you're ill enough to not to go to work anyway, or at least that would have been the case in "normal times" so you don't infect the whole office with whatever you have...

No advice but same thing here. Daughter woke up yesterday with a snotty nose and coughed a few times. 100% think it's just a cold. Called school and they were really unsure as whether she could go in. Told us to phone 111. Called the doctors and they said that because she has a cough, we should all self isolate and get a test. Even though it's not a continuous cough. Doctors told us to phone 119 not 111. After an hour , 119 answered and said we didn't need to self isolate or get tested. We have kept her off school anyway now. It's crazy to be honest! I think you just need to keep trying with 119.

As above - tell work your symptoms don't need a test, stay off work until better, go for a test if you get one of the 3.

I know it's a chest infection because I get them every time I have the common cold. My cough isn't continuous either only to bring up the mucus. I'm working from home so as not to pass this onto anyone anyway as it is nasty!
