He's in reception and only been back a week! So we're trying to get through to 119 to book him a test but no luck so far. Until he gets a negative test we're planning to self isolate for 14 days.

One of his classmates was having a picnic birthday today, I've messaged the mum to let her know. I'll email the school as well. Does this mean his whole class will have to self isolate? I feel so bad but he must have picked it up at school, whatever it is, as he hasn't been anywhere else. :(

The class bubble only has to isolate for a positive test

Remmy123 · 13/09/2020 08:22

Only if positive test - more likely a cold!

pinkgin85 · 13/09/2020 08:24

Ok that's good to know, however trying to get a test is very difficult! I hope we can book something soon

We had this too after 5 days in reception. Keep trying throughout the day for tests, they do keep appearing. Hopefully you will get your test and results back soon and statistically your results will very probably be negative and he can go back to school.

Whole class don't need to self isolate.

If he has a positive test then they will.

We had this too op. As others said, the whole class will not isolate until his test his positive. Good luck getting a test Flowers

My DD came down with a temp after three days back at school! We had no luck getting tests online and eventually got through to 119 who said they can’t book tests. In the end the school had some somehow and the headteacher delivered it to us! Could you try talking to the school on the phone and describing how hard it is to get a test. Sadly as DH and I are both now sick too I think we will still have to self isolate for 14 days unless WE get tests. But at least the school will know what to do when we get our DD’s results. Meanwhile all the kids in her head are still going to school.

Thanks everyone, we're still trying to book a test, I feel like we'll have to sit in front of the computer all day!
