Has two households been dropped?

Previous guidance was that indoors you should only have two households. This included inside pubs, cafes etc.. Has this now been replaced to just any 6 people? I am very confused and in some ways it seems a step back if so!

Yes. 6 people is the only rule from Monday.

They are trying to make the rules simple for police.
You can argue about origin households but nobody can argue on human body count as easily.

I think that up to 30 was legal before, but 30 was "against guidelines." So this would be a sharp reduction in net effect. I don't socialise much, so not paying close attention.

Yes, but it is now a legal limit instead of 30, so a group of 7 could now get a fine. It isn't mandatory to meet with more households, the advice is to limit your interactions.

Yes, just a six person rule to help with clarity as so many found the guidelines ‘confusing’. No reason individuals can’t restrict households too if they choose to though

To me, it is a slightly odd decision. We have been so careful about having only two households indoors (My MIL in the kitchen with the doors open) but now could have more people inside. I suppose for most families of four it would limit it to three households naturally. I don't know of any pubs and cafes that were imposing the two households indoors guidance anyway..

Not great when you are in a 6 adult household already?! Luckily one is off to Uni next week, so one of us can have one friend at a time round 🙄

You and your dp just have to go to the pub when the kids have friends over - it's the only way!

No, in England, a family of 4 could have 2 other visitors. Although I suppose they could have 1 persons from 2 other households but they couldn’t have 2 4 person households regardless of the ago or size of the children.

4 in household 1 and then 1 each from 2 other households limits it to a max of 3.

@titchy unfortunately DH has a very bad back and can't sit or walk to get anywhere, and has to sit in a particular chair ☹️ I just feel it would be easier if they said '2 or 4 other people extra to your household' as if we have one over in to our bubble, it's surely less risky than a single person having 5 unrelated people 🤷‍♀️ Two of our children work shifts, so we'd have to time it for when they are out and shove people out the door when they're expected back? Even though they will go to their rooms and not show their faces...?

I think the Scottish rules seem a little bit more thought through, but also more complicated which the English rules are trying to avoid. I think we have to acknowledge that it is better than full on lockdown, but still shit.
