Is the message I’m getting if I try to book a test. I’m not even being offered somewhere 200 miles away?!?

I've been trying for 3 days - the closest I've got is 60 miles away but where it is with all back roads it would take 2-3 hours to get there :(

Go to your local one and check that u can’t just drive up and get one. This seems to be a way some people are getting them. The one I went to yesterday the people were twiddling their thumbs and said they have had no one come in even though it said they were full.

If you are in a hot spot it seems to be worth just turning up. If not keep refreshing the page. Loads got put on in my area just after 10am this morning. (Well, when I say loads, 3 sites within an hour driving distance that had space....) Also flick between walk in and drive in. If you live near a city they might have a walk in place - you just park nearby and walk.

Me neither, earlier today I was offered one 2 hours drive away, I clicked on it but no slots were available. Been refreshing all day. Just now some came up in a test centre an hour away, I got as far as selecting my timeslot, then it just went to the homepage. No confirmation, no QR code. I assume the slots were all taken before I hit confirm?

Honestly just go to your nearest one without an appointment and ask - I was totally sceptical but it worked for us

LouisaKelmen · 11/09/2020 18:48

I have been trying severely to book test from yesterday evening and this early morning with same results- however today after 10 a.m it worked just on one try- manage to get test for this afternoon.
Try tomorrow after 10 a.m.

Check if there is a local walk in your area. I believe every county has 1,2 or 3 walk in centres.
My DD and DGD went to a walk in at Chester on Wednesday had to queue for a hour.
Unfortunately the results are taking a long time to come back.

RingtheBells · 11/09/2020 18:59

On our local news it said that 75 people had turned up at a testing site in Milton Keynes and had been turned away because they hadn’t got an appointment

everythingthelighttouches · 11/09/2020 19:18

I had the same issue yesterday.

Just went to a local walk through ( which said they were only available by appointment online).

However, as I had Covid symptoms they let me in.

Still waiting for the result though..
