What does this mean?

Apologies if this has already been asked. I was looking on the NHS website for today’s numbers because I can’t see them reported at the moment on the media outlets.
It mentions there have been 9 deaths where the patient had tested positive for COVID-19. Then underneath it says a further 2 that didn’t test positive but had COVID-19 mentioned on the death certificate.
What does this mean? And are these deaths included in the daily figures?

it means exactly what it said. So 9 had tested positive. 2 people died without a test but, as it was assumed from symptoms that they had covid, thats what was put on the death certificate. Yes they count in the figures

Think this gives figures daily

I have read it was 6 deaths today, not 9

@CandleWick4

I compile the latest case numbers in each council in England into an email and send out each day as we were sick and tired of the daily click-a-thon to try to find out what was happening locally. Although I dont include deaths as we were most concerned with what the risk was when we walk outside our front door ie how many cases were in our area. We just found it so hard to make daily decisions without it - like whether to send our daughter back to school.

Anyway if you would find it helpful you are welcome to sign up. We have had lots of signups from all the lovely mumsnetters and people seem to love it Smile

Someone linked to this on another thread. It gives UK wide and Scotland figures daily
