Quarantine Question

A friend's 20 year old daughter is returning from holiday in Portugal on Sunday. Daughter now needs to quarantine. The govt rules state that you should not have visitors. Friend's question is - if daughter stays in her room for 14 days, only leaving to use the bathroom (no one else will use this bathroom), can the family still have visitors downstairs? Friend thinks they can, her husband says they can't. Personally I wouldn't but she'd welcome views...

I guess the official argument would be, items (eg plates) are still going in and coming out of the daughter's room, aerosols potentially containing the virus can still get under the door/ out when she opens it. They need to read the shielding advice for all the "barriers" needed if trying to stop transmission within a household, and then decide.

Thank you - I'll point them in that direction.

If it was me I wouldn’t have visitors round but go to their house instead. It’s just not worth the risk of infection.
